Can't stop thinking...

January 15th, 2018

I'm in my teenage years and I'm socially anxious..

The one who i talk to always makes the first move in starting a conversation..and I don't know how to deal with people. I fear that i may say something bad or they may think of me as a boring person... I have trouble in going outside. I can't even go to different places without having someone to come with me. I'm like a little child and I don't like it.

This made me think of my life. What will happen to me when I'm in college and my life after that? Who will help me? Who will stay with me when I'm in trouble. Who will stand for me?

I know that things change so I should learn how to be independent but I feel like I can't do it. I feel like I can't survive in this world because of what I do in my life.Sometimes, when I try to stand up, it makes my feel worse. I feel more anxious because of how I see people's reactions. I hope that just by creating this thread I may able to learn something(which is a GREAT achievement for me because it's my first time starting something in public even if this is online.)

@Kidd48

Hello!

First of all gongratulations that you did this thread in public.
I have noticed that by acknowledging and admitting one's sides which we may not be happy about makes us
able to actually start improving ourselves. So good luck!
I am sure you can become a very confident and happy person and make
others happy. I wish you will also have friends in your life that can always support you.

@Kidd48 I was an introverted, shy teen, and I can relate to your struggle. The introverted part of me will never change--it's how I'm wired (where I draw my energy from). As for the shy part--the part that gets socially anxious and awkward and obsesses over what people may or may not be thinking about me--it's still a struggle, but I can say that it gets easier with practice. It will take courage and energy, but you can do this. Pick small, baby steps, and push yourself a bit. Pick one small thing to do--maybe when you go to class, just say one thing to the person sitting next to you ... comment on the homework, the weather, SOMEthing. You can even practice at home before you do this. Or, pick one errand to a familiar place to do on your own. Your heart may hammer; you may get shaky, but tell yourself it'll be okay. One baby step at a time ... you can do this. <Hugs to you>
