Do you ever feel like a screw up?

So I work with kids at afternoon program and I’ve only been doing it since November. It’s really tight ship and we have to be overly cautious about supervising the children. We use walkies to communicate and we have to radio the kids when their parents are here. When I radio the kids I repeat myself because there have been times when I radioed and my coworkers have been like “um no one said anything” so I feel like I don’t win either way. I’m annoying when I repeat myself and when I don’t, I didn’t say anything. I’ve been making mistakes and I feel my boss gets irritated. I understand her frustration but sometimes I’m making honest mistakes. I feel like if I was in her position I’d be frustrated too but I also want to be compassionate with myself because I know I’m trying my best. I wish I could do better and hold my own. I wish I was one of those people that knew what they were doing. I do feel like I’m doing the best I can and that’s all I could do. I don’t want to beat myself up because name a human who hasn’t made mistakes.

@Shyness98 You said it yourself, you’re doing the best you can. You have an ideal picture of what “better” is, but remember it’s always an “ideal” we strive toward. For me, every new job made me feel pretty worthless until about 6 months. I’m wishing for you that the gap between your current best you can effort and the ideal gets much smaller over the next 8 weeks. Breathe…when you make a mistake give yourself time to breathe and let that mistake go. You’ve got this!!!

Thank you so much. Yeah I didn’t realize that it’s only been three months at this job. I’m going to be more gracious with myself.
