Falling asleep

Hi!

Lately I've been overthinking a lot while trying to fall asleep. This usually happens when I get more stressed out or anxious during the day. I feel as if I can't seem to shut off my brain at night. Now my solution is to just stop my overthinking everything by reading or watching videos. Only falling asleep when I can't keep my eyes open. This is as you can guess late at night around 4-5 am. The tiredness isn't helping with getting stressed out either, so I get stuck into a viscous loop.

I was wondering if anyone has some tips to be able to stop overthinking and worrying and just fall asleep?

Try leaving your electronics in another room an hour before you wish to sleep. Once I dump the electronics I get a really tasty herb tea (tasty so i don't need sugar, I like liquorice tea) and I just sit and listen to music(no vocals, piano is nice). when I'm done with my tea/music hour I go to bed. Then breathe. To be conscious about a slow inhale and exhale. My friend sent me this from a article he read "The 4-7-8 relaxation breathing technique involves inhaling through your nose for four counts, holding that breath in for seven counts, and exhaling through your mouth for eight counts". Last note, I have a fan on the far side of the room running, it's pointed away from me, the noise is a nice white noise.

For me, I need to put my phone in another room. And I usually read right before bed so that I can start to calm down. Doing something relaxing like listening to music or reading before bed can help, at least in my experience
