New Anxiety getting worse

So, I've never had anxiety - at least not like this. This is the kind that that sits with you daily and makes it nearly impossible to live your life. I've always been outgoing, adventurous, and hated being stuck in one place for too long. But as of August(ish) last year, I've been dealing with an anxiety that makes it nearly impossible to enjoy life.

Around last August, I was traveling back and forth from work on the metro. I had been doing this 5 days a week since March. But, every once in awhile I'd get anxious on the metro, feel super nauseous and have to get off the train for a bit before getting back on. This was rare, but it would happen. Then while on vacation I was feeling sick during every portion of travel. I had good days but they were short. Fast forward to Nov - I had to become remote full time bc I couldn't get to work w/o feeling sick.

Now I'm terrified to leave my apartment - even going in the hallway makes my heart race. I always get this feeling like I'm suddenly going to throw up and then I can't breathe or swallow. Recently, I think my anxiety has been giving me severe acid reflux because my throat burns after I get anxious.

I'm not sure how to cope or what to do. I also have NO IDEA WHY THIS IS HAPPENING! Is it my job? Is it my relationship? Is it my lack of meeting my life goals? I wish I knew!

I desperately need advice. Is this normal to come out of no where? Is it more likely a medical condition?? Any help would be greatly appreciated 😭

It seems like your boyfriend moving to the new place was a big trigger. Are the two of you still together, and if so, do you feel anxiety when the two of you leave the apartment together?

@thoughtfulmomma it certainly was a trigger in terms of feeling safe. We are still together. I don't leave my apartment at all, but on the super rare occasion I do, it's always with him and I still have these issues.

@OneDamagedConsequence

If you step just outside of your apartment - like on your porch, or outside in the hallway if it's indoor, or just on a balcony if you have one - do you feel the anxiety? I mean, you don't go anywhere - you just go right outside the front door.

@thoughtfulmomma yes, not as bad if I know I'm going somewhere, but my heart still races.

@thoughtfulmomma it's been awhile since I visited the app, but I've made incredible progress! I honestly can't thank everyone here enough ❤️ I've been having regular therapy sessions and taking medication to assist with my progress. Lately my anxiety has been ticking up again, but it seems related to a lot of change going on in my life. I can't believe how much I've grown since I posted here. I hardly recognize that person anymore, but I can certainly sympathize with her 🥰

Hello, I hope you are doing fine.

How are the symptoms coming along?

The mind is a complicated instrument and it could have been triggered by something so subtle that you cant notice on your own. I wouldnt try to push to figure out why.

Pleae stay safe and sending lots of love ❤️
