New to Bipolar - looking for hope
Hello. I had a chat with someone earlier. But the chat was awkward. Im trying to determine if this is a good forum for help for me. Im in a bad depression. I had a psychotic break four months ago and was later diagnosed with bipolar disorder I. Im still learning about the disorder and still dealing with the aftermath of the break. Its the hardest thing Ive ever done. The support rep from earlier seemed to be busy with other things and honestly I understand. Im just so new to this. I started with a psychotic break after taking Prozac. The break was horrific. I thought people were trying to kill me and my wife was cheating with anyone and everyone. Four months later we are past the delusions but Im dealing with the aftermath - anxiety and awful depression. If anyone else has been through this I would love to hear from you. Im looking for some hope. I am so scared that I will never be able to smile again. I know I have come very far - Im so thankful- but every day I feel I have so much farther to go. I cant work. And all I want to do is work and support my family. Please, if anyone has a similar story with successful outcome to share, I would welcome it with an extremely open mind and heart. Thank you so much.
@CJam ....
Hi CJam, I'm so glad you've found 7cups and I'm thankful you felt able and willing to share with us here (in the forum).
I just wanted to let you know:
1. First Most Important: You are not alone!
2. Please keep looking for a listener. Some member/listener pairs just don't work very well. You'll know when you've found a good one for you :)
3. I am a listener as well as a member. I'd listen to you if you like :)
4. As you'll see on my listener page, I do have the diagnosis of Bipolar Disorder. My diagnosis is Type One, as well. So while I won't understand all of what you've been through, I do promise to listen and I'd guess I'll understand quite a bit.
5. Second most important - Have a terrific week! Please remember to take good care of yourself! No matter what the depression tells you, you ARE worth it.
Take care, BooksHugs

There is Hope and Recovery for bipolar. I was first dx with bipolar in 1995 after I had a manic phase and kept calling this one person. My husband tried to have me commited after he had physically abused me. The police was called and they to me to a psy hospital. I was not commited because my Doctor understood that my husband had abused mebut I stayed in the hospital for a week to be started on meds and to be away from my husband but that was a long time ago. I am stable now and lead a good life. So I want to offer you hope.
@victoriousParadise88 What a journey you have had. I'm so glad to hear things are more stable and you feel positive about your life. <3
