So I haven't told anyone yet and iv never seen a therapist but I'm concerned something more is going on and it's giving me a lot of anxiety. A little back story, my father suffered from schizophrenia and depression which lead to his death (suicide) when I was 15. My mother is an addict who was never probably seen by a therapist. For the past 6-7 months I have been hearing words/nosies when I'm alone mostly, in-between the humming of lights/fridge the ac, I know what I am hearing is real it's a lot of repeating moaning..sometimes words.. sometimes full sentences I can never seem to make out all of. But it draws me into where I focus so hard on trying to figure out if it's real? I'm wondering if this is stress or could be something more? Im deeply terrified.

@reliableCurrent3629 I found an article about this: Why Am I Hearing Things That Aren’t There?

You're right—stress is on the list of possible causes. But some of the possible causes in the list are medical conditions that a therapist wouldn't know about. A doctor would be better able to help you work out what's going on and what to do about it.
