Any tips on sleep?
I am bipolar and like many I struggle with maintaining a consistent sleep schedule. So when I'm manic I'll get around 4 hours and when I'm depressed I get about 10 (I'm sure you see the issue)...
Anyways, I eat dinner then watch a few episodes of a show, brush my teeth and then its time for bed. But then I can't sleep so I pick up my phone, even though I know I shouldn't.
I don't know if there's any tips on ways to fall asleep easier or better methods to keep myself accountable so I don't turn to my phone when I can't sleep, but any advice would be helpful!

You probably already know to dim the lights, TV screen, phone, PC due to blue light. About picking up the phone, have you considered listening to bedtime meditations, stories, Hypnosis? I also find that the Calming Crystal Sound Baths are relaxing. Good luck!
I've always had insomnia so I've struggled falling asleep, staying asleep, getting any sleep etc.
A few things I do, make sure I'm not hungry or bloated, it disturbs me. Make sure the temperature is right, mainly not too warm.
Deal with anything weighing on me before bed, write out my feelings and then bedtime can be a peaceful experience.
Make sure I'm thoroughly exhausted beforehand, otherwise I don't sleep. I game in bed on my phone, that's my night time ritual, it helps me to switch off and relax, but I dim the screen and then use the app to further dim it, it makes me sleepy.
Lastly I listen to asmr sound effects all night to really make me drowsy, rainfall, beach waves, storms, whatever you prefer, if that is your thing :)

For temperature, I use a Bed Jet. That has been a game changer.
@caringShoulder1357 not heard of that, in summer I'm using a mini fan ha

Hey Diplomatic, welcome to 7 Cups. Ask your doctor/s about the non habit forming/non addictive sleep relaxant that they use in hospitals to help people relax and sleep. I can't sleep regularly either but this little thing has worked a charm for me.
Namaste,
D.
Don't pick up the phone instead pick up a very boring book and force yourself to read one page after that you will be tired and ready to sleep
