I really want the relationship I'm in right now to work but things always get ruined because of my bipolar-even with family members. I really want this one to work!

Thats hard when you really want a relationship and from past experiences you are 😟 worried. You know your relationships have been affected by bipolar. That can be worrisome. Totally understandable.

I hope this one goes well.

Wishing you the best.

I have been where you have been exactly. It’s a very tough situation when you feel you have everything going right with you and you are going to screw it up soon.

I would suggest somethings that worked for me:

  1. Give your 200% to the relationship when you are normal. Shower your partner with love and affection.

  2. Be honest and have an open communication with your partner about your illness and how it manifests

  3. Ask for help from your partner that you still need them to guide you when you’re having your episodes. And follow them blindly if they agree to stay and help you out.

  4. Really work hard to ensure you reach stability and stay there for as long as possible- Take your medication on time as prescribed, do your journaling, keep yourself in a routine, etc.,

  5. When you find yourself feeling the slightest of the symptoms approach your partner and submit to they will. Tell them you’ll do exactly what they will tell as you’re not in a position to rely on your own thoughts.

Please know that every person out there has someone from them. Your illness cannot keep you from finding a partner. I found one who literally helped me out and stayed with me through almost 100 plus episodes. So be patient, honest with your partner and things will work out.

It’s not easy first step is to admit the situation and accept it after that trying to do therapy cause it will help you for sure. The family should understand your needs
