My friend and I used to talk about girls a lot. It was pretty much a given that he'd come over to stay the night every Friday. We'd play all kinds of stuff, but we always started with playing Turtles in Time while catching up on all our news about our crushes. We'd always have elaborate plans that usually didn't go anywhere.
At night we'd help my dad on his paper route. After helping roll papers, we'd be in the bed of the truck, and the conversation would turn to girls again. Just imagining all sorts of romance, and asking "what if?". That is until around 3am, we'd get hungry... Then the conversation would turn to food.
But either way, we were girl crazy. I was the first to get a girlfriend, and the first for a lot of things. Honestly, it strained the friendship a little because I didn't say everything. Relationships aren't exactly all romance, and there's so much more to life than romance anyway. It was hard to convey a lot of things. Especially when unexpected things happened. Girls were sort of aggressive with me in ways, and there was a lot of weird tension, and honestly some dark issues that came up for me early on.
I don't regret dreaming about it, but the reality was more than I could have prepared for. There's so much more to life, and there always was, even if it takes a big part of things from time to time.

Hello Clarisse29,
Your writing prompt is intriguing and thought-provoking. It's a wonderful way to inspire creativity and introspection. Reflecting on the prompt, I would write something like:
"And then I realized, there's more to life than chasing success and climbing the ladder of achievements. It's about savoring the small moments, nurturing relationships, and finding joy in the journey itself."
Thank you for creating such engaging writing prompts and fostering a supportive writing community!
Best regards,
Jack

We wake up a little extra early this morning. Turn on the coffee pot that was prepped the night before. The sun hasn’t risen yet. Puppy looks up. The gaze from Puppy’s eyes is so deeply. There is generous amounts of love and compassion being shared. The tail swings side to side. The mouth open and closes slowly but no sound comes out. The puppy needs to go out? The door opens, cool crisp morning air flows over you. The exposed skin tinges from the mild briskness of the morning. Your nostrils fill with the smell of the freshness of the day. Puppy lollygags out the door and into the backyard to do what dogs do. Puppy finishes its duties and heads back to the door.
Puppy stops and leans against your leg, its tail still swinging side to side ever so slowly. You feel puppy’s pressure, warmth, and presence against your leg. You’re enamored by the moment and the view. The peace and tranquil of the moment fills you, almost to the point that it is overwhelming. Then the aroma of the fresh coffee pulls you back. Puppy’s cold nose touch brings you to attention. You reach down with your hand and puppy longingly meets it. Puppy knows you need.
You sit down with that fresh cup of coffee. Puppy leaps up and lays at your side. Puppy’s head on your thigh. Puppy never leaves your side, always within a nose or hand’s reach. Mindlessly your hand always seems to find puppy like an automated process such as breathing. You take a sip of you coffee which brings pleasure of its sting on your lip and tongue.
The sun breeches the room at its first rise. Puppy coos as it shifts to find that right spot at your hip. Then the memory floods and rushes you. The hustle and the pressure and the stress of life, when you released, ‘there is more to life then pleasing corporate life’. The memory fades, a mild smirk. Maybe even a smile? Leaks out. You hand is nudged by the cold nose again as you take a sip of that fresh hot coffee and the morning dew is burned away by the first rays of the sun. I am …
