I've honestly never really liked the time around sunset since I was a kid. It always seemed like good things had to end way soon. I hated having to go to bed, or that my favorite cartoons were only 30 minutes long, or car ride thinking time ruined by reaching the destination. Just anything. I was always ready for more. Sunset always felt like a strict and serious adult enforcing bedtime.
There was a time later in life when I just couldn't afford to keep living independently much longer because of a number of emergency-level reasons that would have never happened if I knew who not to keep in my life. It so happened that my dad had passed away earlier that year and left me his house. I really, really didn't want to go back. He was a hoarder and the house was nothing but walkways between trash and boxed items... There was one cleared out room for me to sleep in.
I had a lot of obligations and I was looking for better work... My friends weren't around much. It was just a very lonely and negative time, and there were certain things I didn't think I'd come back from. It felt like the sun was setting on my life.
It got worse at sunset. I forgot the OTHER reason I never liked that time of day. The house just always starts feeling really evil, others agree with me, and no one can really explain it. I called it THE ORANGE TIME. If you were with friends or family or eating, or had enough noise on, it wouldn't be so bad. Otherwise, it felt like the eyes of a predator watching from the trees... Assessing, judging. It got to me with severe depression. Any time I felt like I didn't get enough accomplished, or I felt lonely, it made me feel like a failure, like I deserved to be alone. During that time when it felt like nothing could work out, and I mostly didn't even want it to... It got to me, and I started wandering places all the time, with no real reason to be at any of them, no one by my side, and I just felt like I was haunting my old hometown.
Somehow, I found one purpose, in just trying to make amends to one person. During that time, all of my efforts did manage to build something of a life, and I'd restored the house to feel like an actual house. I decided to stay here. I decided to keep going. The more I've gotten back up, the less power THE ORANGE TIME has over me.
Also, I never disliked the night. It seems like good things always cycle back. The more I can right wrongs from previous cycles, and prevent wrongs from being perpetuated, the more power I have over the strict judging of the setting sun.

Yup, sometimes sunsets can feel lonely...💗
How do we even know for sure that the sun will rise tomorrow?
What if the stars continued to twinkle in the dark sky
Well throughought the day?
What if no light came from the bright sky above,
And no warmth reached us from those rays?
Would we simply continue on like nothing happened?
Or would we panic, or conserve our energy?
We really take the simplest things for granted
And as our very own sun rises and sets each day
We must make every hour of daylight count-
Because what if the sun doesn't rise tomorrow?
@LonleyCheese
Surely we should value what we have !!😊
