The fading daylight took away everything with it, but I held onto my shards of hope.
There were things that needed doing. I could apply myself and think about them. There was an essay I had written back in 2006 to get some things off my chest. I just found it recently in a folder on one of my flash drives. No one had ever seen it. I looked through it and realized there was a lot more I could say on the subject. It was a two-page piece on the way we boys were never told anything about our bodies until we were eleven years old. We knew the slang terms for certain body parts, but we didn't know the proper terms for them and we didn't know their functions. We were taught only that those body parts were shameful and we should never speak of them. I had health problems relating to them and could never tell anyone. This had left me angry, naturally. I wrote more and more recently and wound up with a 10-page essay by the time I finished, just two days ago. I still have no one to show it to. There is one woman at the community center who might be willing to read it, but I don't know if I will ever see her again. She hasn't been showing up.
My mind keeps wandering to daydreams of Judy - the woman who lives hundreds of miles away and wants nothing to do with me. I daydream of a future class reunion at which I'm able to impress her in some way and finally let her know how I feel. I'm tired of this daydream, as it's a hopeless waste of time and keeps me from having more productive thoughts. I have stories to write, but I just can't do it, with these daydreams dominating me. It's been like this all of my life.
I go through my nightly routine, visiting certain websites, watching a YouTube video, maybe, then selecting some music on YouTube to listen to while getting ready for bed.
When ready for bed, I put on a CD, play a couple of word games, and read a little before turning out the light.
I hope that woman shows up at the community center so she can read my essay. I've printed it and have it in my backpack.

The fading daylight took away everything with it, but I held onto my shards of hope.
Although everything felt so blurry around me with no ray of hope, I had to find my way out of the dilemma that kept me, mum, for too long.
Needless to say, it was satisfying enough to stand there motionless, without having to do anything.
It was soothing to be in that comfort zone and wait until somebody came and moved me. What else could have been expected when I fell in love with my comfort zone, with my solitude?
However, there was a tiny voice inside me that asked me to do something. "Get up and finish the race" "Be your, own hero" it demanded!
The tiny voice got louder and clear until it forced me to take my first step.
With every step I took, the shards of hope only grew more and more. And one day a miracle happened! — I became a plethora of hope and gave hope to every flora, fauna, and human being on my journey.
I always believed in miracles but also knew that even a miracle needed me to do something — to believe in myself and have faith in The Almighty Lord that changed it all around me and fetched me everything that was once taken away from me. ♥️
@lyricalAngel70
such a hopeful, optimistic piece! love it!
Thank you for doing this ♥️
Keep it up!

This is great 😀 I haven't done something like this in a while! Here it goes:
The fading daylight took away everything with it, but I held onto my shards of hope. 🌒
As the familiar disappeared around me, I felt tears well up inside me. Emotions I was unaware of surged through me and along came the memories and images of the future I was losing.
I reached my breaking point. Losing people, security, and esteem was too much. Before the last of the daylight faded, I took the final steps to reclaim my narrative. I have been here before. Things had looked bleak before, but I have always found a way to break through and establish my own way. 🐾
I realized that while I was holding on tightly to the shards of hope, they were piercing me and I was losing pieces of myself. I let go of my idea of hope and instead focused on what was real and within my grasp.
Pushing aside the criticism and questions. I am creating a lifestyle aligned with my values. Now I am seeing that the daylight was never meant to last and the future I lost was never meant for me. Now I am beginning to clearly see my next steps. 💖🌱🍁
I was all good
I was fine
But they all left
Didn't even say goodbye
The workload was too much
And it wasn't even important
But I was tired
Went to bed
Dark outside
"New year, new me"
But inside I'm the same
Just as I used to be
Sick and tired of this game
Holding onto shards of hope
My base of being
And as the light fades
taking me away
A new light is what I'm seeing
And though I'm no diffrent
The other was fake
And I'm a bit less so
And I know it's going to be hard
But with each little shard
Of hope that I hold
A happier ending hopefully unfolds
Fun to write, thanks for the prompt!
@LonleyCheese
Love the hope you have at the end of the poem. Great writing!
@InvaderStitch Thank you! I read yours below too, it was a real feel there, I enjoyed reading it!
@Clarisse29
This poem is something I wrote from the perspective of a family member.
The relationship started out as a sunny day
Happiness and joy abound,
You had a knack for making me laugh
And made me feel like I was queen of your world
I looked forward to seeing your face when I woke up
And then, just like that, everything changed,
But I didn’t notice it at first
And when I did notice, I thought it was all my fault.
I thought I deserved your anger,
That I deserved your cheating,
That maybe I just wasn’t good enough for you.
Then, one day, you decided to leave,
You decided to take our car and our kid
You moved across the country, leaving me behind.
I know things weren’t good for a while,
But I never thought you you’d do what you did
And just like that,
The fading daylight took everything with it,
But I held on to my shards of hope.

I don't know if I'm late :0
I love this one!
DUBIOUS SENSATIONS
How could i let go of the one thing keeping me,
Feeding me?
They never said it was my fault,
Neither did I,
But why does it feel that way?
I put all my strength into the pull,
No, I won't let go, not this time,
I needed a flame to light my darkness,
A ripple to distort my fate,
A wish to change history;
Delete all mitakes,
Under the fading horizon,
With a view so breathtaking my heart stops,
I think,
Is it worth the risk?
Is it all I'm my head?
Yet I stood,
And the fading daylight took everything with it,
But I held on to my shards of hope.
DMR
I hope you like it 😄
Apologies for the typo,
*Is it all in my head?
The fading daylight took everything with it, but I held on to my shards of hope…
shards, sharp and hurting, yet I held ion and watched the sky, waiting.
I wonder if it occurs to others that the beauty of the night is filled with stars,
stars so hot that no human could ever catch one, at best wish for a bit of ash from the sky…
my shards of hope are much like the stars above,
a reminder that beckons my soul to see the shine more than the vast infinity of being.
my soul however cherished the shards, for the pain reminds me I can feel and am alive,
still yearning for another day to be right here, right now, under the stars on knees with weighted shoulders to feel the sun rise again..
