My source of strength is still unknown.
...and there is a certain strength in that fact.
I could say that the source is in training,
But most of that is muscle memory.
I could say that it's in my willpower,
But I blindside myself with desires every day.
I could say it's in substance like liquor,
But that just makes me dance better.
I could say that I was born with it,
But I really feel like I was thrown into powerlessness.
I used to feel it was in my friends, and that they were my armor,
But people go away, and armor can't protect you from anything that's already inside.
However, just because I am content enough to allow my source to be unknown,
Doesn't mean that I don't feel that source.
I know it more intimately than I know myself.
Maybe I felt it strongest in the times when I very nearly died...
Like when I swam to safety in a bad storm,
Or when I faced a man with a gun to protect my dog.
But I know it more intimately from other times,
The times when I feel like I'm the only one questioning my sources,
That time the other week when I called an ambulance for a stranger that seemed to be dying... Everyone else was either ignoring it or gossiping about it.
They may have still been doing that if he'd had the consciousness to be screaming for help at the time...
The weird thing is that I want to be proud,
Yet, as much as I want to feel special,
I'd just rather invite people in the truth,
Part of which being that my unknown source of strength probably isn't that special.
I take strength from the same things everyone does.
I have failed to be strong so many times, even when it really mattered.
But if only I can help anyone tap into their source of strength,
Draw from it, riff on it, make it their own, make the world cleaner than we all found it...
Because, all in all, the truest source of strength,
However you care to define it or leave it,
Is as open to you as you are to yourself.
Here's hoping that it empowers you, me, and all before accident becomes mistake.
The source of my strength has not been discovered yet. I'm hoping I can find some such thing soon, maybe through therapy, so I can finally do something with my life.
I want to be tagged for more prompts.
The source of my strength is strange... Till date, I haven't seen it as a whole... Like a shy beloved, it gives me it's glimpses in the moments of extreme distress and hopelessness. But it never reveals it's true self to me. It allows me to extract the energy I need but it never hugs me whole-heartedly. I'm eagerly waiting to meet this stranger of mine one day.
@SirenOfSerenity
My source of strength was discovered.
I hadn't seen it before, in a way it had been lost to me.
My eyes were open, yet I didn't see.
I had always felt like I had nothing to say in what was did to me.
It was made clear to me as a child that "no" wasn't an option I had.
So I did say yes, I always said yes.
Even when I wanted to say "no", "yes" was all I had.
The pain in my heart and the pain in my mind were entangled.
I couldn't speak, I couldn't share the pain.
Even if I could, there were no ears that would listen.
I was forgotten, unless I had to serve.
Then I was a priority
But yet, not even then.
As I grew, more events built on.
The pain before was tripled now.
With time I got PTSD.
And so I hurt, no place to seek the help I need.
And then one day, I got free.
Something I did not know how to be.
What I had learned in my mind,
all the thoughts, wrong seemed to be.
The thought distortions I had got,
I had to release as I went on.
And so I learned to fix them all,
I learned too to love me more.
Now I know that I am good,
that I am kind and caring too.
I have learned about boundaries,
how to say stop and "no".
And so through time, I did learn, that my strength came when I discovered I could to use my pain, to use all I've been through. To use it to heal, to give hope and give support to others who are in the place, the place I was in, where hope was nowhere to be seen.
For I have worked, to learn all I can, to heal through the past and all the things I've had to unlearn.
@AnnaSilverberg
Wonderful Anna.
I'm very sorry for the pain you had to go through. How positive you're now - I deeply admire you.
@Helgafy
Thank you Helgafy, that's very kind of you to say =)
And yes, I do my very best to live a positive life now, I know I deserve happiness and I am willing to give it to myself =)
My source of strength...My, what a prompt! Has it been found yet? No it has not. It's peeking through the shadows, down the avenues of my mind, scared to be alone, afraid to come outside. It comes out in the morning, but when the darkness falls, they hideaway until dusk, ignoring my calls. My source of strength needs light, to thrive and grow, and when it shows up for good, I'll be sure to let you know. My source of strength needs saving, it's holding more than it can bear, but despite the weight on it's shoulders, for you it's always there.

Thankyou for this :)
The source of my strength was discovered when I realised whatever happens, it happens inside of me.
I dated a girl few years back and my feeling towards her was so pure, it was love, I know. And emotions were on different height of pleasantness. We had a break year later.
In some random day, I pondered - the way I saw her and how my feelings became pleasant and loving when I found her in front of my eyes, a stranger on street won't see her in same way. She is awesome, somewhere my mind also recognised it and it was always loving to be with her.
Remember the time when we feel anxious even when everything is going well outside? Or we have always met such people who are rich and they have loving family but still somewhere they feel depressed? We have capability to create anxiety and depression in our own as well, without any external simulation.
Which got me thinking that there is an equal possibility to create love or maybe same level of pleasantness inside, without any outside simulators. Thinking about this itself makes me joyful, that there is a possibility like this.
And honestly, this itself is my wisdom to emotional strength.
My strength was discovered when I realize it is my choice!
Having strength is an attitude - just like youth... happiness....
When I realized others live in fear and I decided I don't want to live that way! that's not who I am or what my life is about!
A better question is how do you maintain your strength? it's the kind of life I want to live, even though my body now with 10 months of long covid isn't cooperating. I maintain strength where and how I can since it's part of the growth mindset of improving/being better that I adopted a LONG time ago and never lost. Learning how to ask for help, accept help, living dependent on others, and remaining strong in areas/ways I can - is a better question. The answer is the same - it's an outlook! I'm a positive person so it's how I see things.
@SirenOfSerenity
The source of my strength being Discovered.
The Souce of my strength was discovered,
When I discovered the being in control of it.
The source of my strength was always present,
Always around. Day and night all year round.
It was always within, a gift of mercy and grace,
even without seeing it, brought me through my days.
I am thankful and grateful for the strength I have recieved.
Through my darkest nights of being maliciously decieved.
Through the white water rapids of my own debts and fees.
Through my decisions, right or wrong, In the midst was my key.
My source of strength was Discovered when...
I learned who God was.

Also, please add me to the prompts list.
Thank you for this prompt, it was fun but required inside reflection and complex thought processes (:
