You've Got a Friend
dLyrics
When you're down and troubled
And you need a helping hand
And nothing, oh, nothing is going right
Close your eyes and think of me
And soon I will be there
To brighten up even your darkest nights
You just call out my name
And you know wherever I am
I'll come running, oh, yeah, baby
To see you again
Winter, spring, summer or fall
All you've got to do is call
And I'll be there, yeah, yeah, yeah
You've got a friend
If the sky above you
Should turn dark and full of clouds
And that old north wind should begin to blow
Keep your head together
And call my name out loud now
Soon I'll be knocking upon your door
You just call out my name
And you know wherever I am
I'll come running, oh, yes, I will
To see you again
Winter, spring, summer or fall, yeah
All you've got to do is call
And I'll be there, yeah, yeah, yeah
Hey, ain't it good to know that you've got a friend?
When people can be so cold
They'll hurt you and desert you
Well, they'll take your soul if you let them
Oh, yeah, but don't you let them
You just call out my name
And, you know, wherever I am
I'll come running to see you again
Oh, baby don't you know 'bout
Winter, spring, summer or fall
Hey, now, all you've got to do is call
Lord, I'll be there, yes, I will
You've got a friend
You've got a friend, yeah
Ain't it good to know you've got a friend?
Ain't it good to know you've got a friend?
Oh, yeah, yeah, you've got a friend
Songwriter: Carole King

II am cheating. Carole King wrote this song. I love all the seasons. All of the season's remind me of this song, and it is a fitting description of 7 Cups as well. I feel so much more secure knowing I do have a safe place to share feelings, ideas, hardships and accomplishments, and others are willing to listen. It keeps my hope for the human race intact. It helps me see the inherent good in others. It makes me happy to see strangers treating others at they would close friends and other loved ones.

@SirenOfSerenity

An atmosphere of heightening emotion,

Somehow.

Give rise to the darkness slowly,

Banishing the tyrannical emboldened bright one into balance.

It's all just slightly quieter despite the noise of footsteps,

Among the fallen colors.

I feel at one with my jacket or my hoodie,

More than just a layer, they're an amulet.

So too are the costumes that people invest into,

The masks they wear then resemble them more than the masks the wear during the mundane.

As for me, I wear a smile,

As soon as I feel the power of the season.

It whispers so many things I've felt before,

In a cool fragrant breath.

And suddenly my past meets my present,

And it doesn't depress me anymore.

I am so many lifetimes,

And I just wish I could spend more of them,

In this season.

I like autumn. I like the crispness of the air, the colors of the leaves, and the harvest. When I was a little boy, I would watch the combine harvesting the field corn. It would get full, then bring its load of corn to the truck parked in our lawn. The corn would come pouring out of the combine's chute into the truck. I would climb up the back of the truck to look at the corn and my dad would yell at me to get down. After he headed back into the field to continue harvesting, I would climb up again and look. The corn was bright yellow and the lawn was bright green. Glen Campbell's song "Wichita Lineman", which was a hit that year, was running through my head. My mom bought the album.

In later years, autumn meant the end of farmwork for the year. That was always a good thing. The work wasn't bad, it was having to work for dad. He yelled and screamed on a daily basis. "Lazy!" "Stupid!" and most of all, "Worthless!" I heard these words describing me on a daily basis for many years.

The school year started in autumn. It was good to get away from the farmwork, but school was no fun, either. There, I had to deal with the bullies every day.

I still like autumn, anyway, as an adult.

@WharfRat

Autumn is my favorite also. I am sorry about the hurtful words. People often don't realize what their words mean to the person they are aimed at...how they break a spirit. Perhaps it is how they were taught, or it is a worry of their own showing up in their words (maybe that the harvest needed to get to sale before others for a better return to ensure the bills were paid and family fed?), and there are some people who think that kind of speak shows authority and strength that will encourage the 'workers' to do better. None of those reasons make those kind of words acceptable or appropriate, the point being the words are generally more about the one saying them. I have heard them also, and let them determine who I was in both good ways and bad ways. I have finally learned in my very late middle age to make myself who I want to be. I hope that pain has long gone, and only serves as a reminder of what you don't want to be. Wishing you many blessings. Your story is helpful to others.

the blazing heat and cloudless skies

Fading quickly and a new light in my eyes

When I see the colors in the leaves before they fall

The dry desert ground is blessed with rain

And then the smells come

sweet and soft

Even better than spring I'd say

I much prefer september over may

To think that the leaves had not touched the floor before

And that the color was there all along but hidden by life

Their death is beautiful and the trees are crying

And when they're done they'll sleep till april

And bring some new fronds and flowers

But for now the world is bathed in rich brown tones

And red, yellow too

An orange leaf so pretty I might just have to press it

Inside a book, I'll find it later

And enjoy this hoodie weather while it lasts

@SirenOfSerenity

yes yes i know i'm sooooo late to this one (': and i'm like not even doing it totally as written, but my favorite season is camp season (': so for specification, sUmMeR but really really, camp.

i love you.

with all of my whole heart, i love all of you.

sunsets shining pink and orange,

lighting up the night sky.

why must you be so far away?

sand between my fingers and barefoot on the sand,

sitting,

watching,

quietly.

why must you be so far away?

once a year for one measly session of 3 weeks,

i am met with a mindset found nowhere else inside,

bringing out my own self,

at my very best,

all the time.

why must you be so far away?

long beach talks late at night,

laughing and crying,

talking as if there would be no tomorrow.

leaning on others whilst falling apart,

long hugs,

wishing they could last forever.

why must you be so far away?

i love you.

magnificent camp on the lake,

thank you for saving me.

that counts as a season right? (':
