My favorite time of the day and week is weekends and the first thing in the morning. Waking before the alarm clock goes, so I don’t disturb anyone in the house. Escape quietly to the kitchen. Open the porch door. The morning fog lays across the lawn like a thick soft blanket. The last of the moon light glistening in the dew. Reflections of the first kiss of the golden sun rays graceful move across your view. The birth of morning refracting like gems in your vision.

The gurgling sounds of the forgotten, the ancient peculator in the distance, coffee is in my near future. Reminds you of your childhood, Mom making that first cup of coffee. Oh the Days of Yore. Wistful memories of childhood experiences.

Pleasantries of the simple life.

I smile at the ideal of being lazy as I soak in the wonders of my alone time. Me and my headspace, my inner peace. Silence is golden, as in the morning sun I am now experiencing. That was when you notice it really is silent. That means, coffee is ready. Not the Beep it is ready, but the silence.

I hear quite subtle sounds from puppy. Yeahp, that was what I was thinking. Puppy wanting to be with me. I scoot over a little, make some room and before I could shift, Puppy was up and at myside. I take that first sip of my coffee. The warmth from the cup in my hands, the warm from the coffee in my system. Various noises came from puppy, looked down and …

Puppy was sound asleep at myside.

What words describe the silence of the morning, the warmth of the fresh cup of coffee? Golden rays of the morning sun? The unconditional need of you at your side.

I will always feel loved with animals,

The way my guinea pigs stare at me, kiss me, and popcorn around when I come into the room.

The way my dog looks at me, knowing she's been through so much, and yet she is positively devout in the way she looks to me and seems to understand what I say.

I'll always feel loved also,

When kids see something good in me,

And realize I'll talk to them as equals, answering them honestly.

Once again, I'll always feel loved,

When someone confides in me their deepest secrets,

Their biggest fears,

Their darkest regrets,

Even their strangest desires,

Anything that they hide from others and themselves because they need someone to understand and empower them rather than judge,

And I feel so lucky to be trusted to be that person.

I don't always feel loved,

I keep my room cold at bedtime,

Huddled up in the blanket, pretending it's Magitek Armor,

My heart pounding sometimes at the anxiety,

All those hidden things that I've never confided to anyone...

All the ways that I feel distanced,

Sometimes to the point that regretting missed connection with people brings me to tears,

Wondering if they'd even welcome a reach-out from me, let alone knowing the impossibly convoluted and unconventional truth of who I am.

I have to tell myself it's warm here.

Here, huddled with me in my blanket, all the times I've felt loved.

All the times I've been able to suspend my disbelief that I'm lovable at all.
