I'd like to take this moment and grab all your attention for someone who's been there for us all in the forums. Nobody knows what someone goes through when you speak to them or maybe not understand much about it,  however I'm making this post for someone who has been there for alot of us and out of thier own kindness and help has chosen to listen and support those and understand more about us whether it is just listening or even being updated on how we all are feeling. Well now it's our turn to return the favour for this person. Let us all appreciate our true friend, our true family member here even all are not blood related you can still choose this type of person to count on. Thanks @Bestvase7265 for everything you do. Please accept this message for all the hard work you've done for everyone here. I'm sorry for everything you've been through this year and just know we all are here thinking of you. God bless you. I'm in tears writing all this. Once again thank you very much for just being who you are. God bless you once again.

Vase deserves so much your wonderful recognition, Callum!

I was part of the Depression Support community team until early this year. I can attest that Vase has been like forever the main pillar of support of this vast and important community (Vase is a 7 Cups member since March 2016!).

In Depression Support “people come and people go” (like myself) quoting the Ecclesiastes, but Vase has stayed for years, day after day, consistently, comforting people who share their pain, with the exact words to say in each case. No matter how tough what they share (and things can get really tough in DS), Vase has the most comforting, tactful and healing words. I learned a huge lot from Vase.

Keeping a low profile, Vase’s contribution has been huge. In fact, Vase was, among the thousands of active members in the Forums, one of the 10 people in Cups with the most posts per year, announced last year as part of 7 Cups’ 10 years celebration:
https://www.7cups.com/forum/projectsandevents/CommunityActivitiesEvents_1908/AShoutOuttoOurAmazingForumContributors_308402/

In total, Vase has made almost 20 thousand posts. And as far as I can tell, those were not posted playing fun icebreakers, but supporting people in difficult situations. Facing their pain, day after day for years.

I don’t know the details, but from what Callum tells and things I remember, Vase might have had a very tough year.

All my love and appreciation for this incredibly noble soul, so compassionate, good and generous, a real-life saint.

I am not exaggerating, on the contrary, short of words to express the true wonderful nature of who Vase is.

I hope you are well, Vase, that you and your family fully recover after this tough year.

All the very best in your life!

You give so much, you deserve nothing but the very best!

Marcelo

Thanks so much for your kind words. They mean a huge amount.

Two hurricanes, my mother breaking her knee, losing both my school and place of worship for a long period, financial stress and the horrible election has made this fall quite difficult. But I recognize that the kindness that we offer one another is a driving force for change to make the world better. @HealingTalk

Thank you Vase! There are not enough words to describe the great good you have done for so many people.

What a coincidence of calamities! There has been so much destruction, the hardships they bring, your mother breaking her knee, and the election that I can't say here what I think, but I agree with you completely.

It's so unfair that wonderful good people like you must endure all this.

The kindness we offer one another is like a calming balsam in a world that can become hostile and brutal. The kindness shared in our communities, like this one, makes our lives humane and rewarding.

And it's a most powerful driving force to make the world better. I am optimistic about it, that the long-term trend points in that direction.

May all the damage be repaired, and prosperity return to your community. May your mother stay the best possible at her age. And reason and kindness prevail in the world.

And you, stay awesome, Vase!

@CallumKing2000

alot of time people dont even wonder if those who spend time trying to help and support others maybe have their own issues in life. but they want to try and support others, personally having been through so much in my life at at times having maybe just one person even saying do you want a hug, or am there for you can change everything, bring you back from the cliff edge.

keep being amazing and have an amazing christmas please, all of you

@Angelanj yes. They are such an amazing person. I came back to these old posts to remind myself and others I still think of them often and wonder how they are doing physically and mentally. I believe in God and God has sent me to bless her by gifting this post of appreciation to them. 🙏

I want to thank you again for highlighting these at this particular point in time on my journey. You have an uncanny ability to spread light and peace at exactly the right moment.

When you first posted this a year ago, I had been through a very rough six months and I was very comforted by the words that you offered.

Unluckily, life didn't get much easier after that, especially the last six months. In June I discovered that I needed emergency eye surgery on a macular hole that involved being face down for three days without moving. My father started going seriously downhill over the summer and ended up in hospice care in September. He is still there and we have no idea when things might change. In August, I found out that I might have cancer but they weren't able to do the test to prove one way or the other until last week. In December, my surgically repaired eye developed a cataract and I can no longer see to drive and barely can type (I apologize for any typos).

But things are going to turn themselves around just like they will for you too. Yesterday I finally heard "no cancer" and today the new eye doctor's office called to move my appointment forward so I might be able to see again more quickly. Life gives us crap and then we get up and try again. Things do get better. And having people out there who support me like you - well they are priceless. Thank you. @CallumKing2000

I want to thank Angelanj for answering this thread today because I think that I really need support from people here right now in a way that I haven't since I was really bad when I got on here 10 years ago.

All the stuff listed above (hurricanes, my mother's knee, worrying about my job security) continued into 2025 when I was faced with my father's decline. He has now been in hospice care for 6 months. I also had a 5 month wait for surgery to find out that I don't have cancer. And I had a macular hole in the back of my eye which led to 3 days upside down not moving from a massage chair. Unluckily that eye surgery caused cataracts and I now am seeing 20/100 in one eye and 20/50 in the other. I can't drive and struggle to read text. And a horrible situation at work has led to Human Resources filing a hostile work environment investigation on my behalf even though I didn't want one. Now I have to meet with lawyers which is terrifying.

I could really use a break. But the kind words here are extra helpful because of currently only being able to see the worst in myself.

I can't tell you how grateful I am.
