Latinos/Hispanics stereotyped

I wonder why hispanics and Latinos have historically been and continue to be disproportionately depicted as criminals, gang members, or violent offenders in American movies. 😮‍💨💀

@polite2

What movies are you watching?

I definitely have seen in old movies and some newer movies, they still follow that stereotype trope and what not. I guess you can say it is to do with racism, how people view latinos. Some actors are also typecast as bad guys and have a hard time being cast as a good guy. But I have seen that for other races as well.

Like the movie training day or tv series breaking bad. I'm sure there are more out there just can't think of them right now @Remina

@polite2 unfortunately the poorest in society are generally the most vulnerable to crime. Crime is related to income, not race. However, income bracket is also related to race - unfortunately Latino and Hispanic Americans tend to be poorer than white Americans.

Films just perpetuate that perception.
