Growing up, I lived in an area with a lot of Portuguese immigrants. My childhood best friend was Portuguese and dinners at her house were always delicious 😊. Her Mom was a fantastic cook.

One thing I really miss about living in an area with a lot of Portuguese people is being able to get a linguica pizza. Linguica is a type of Portuguese sausage. So yummy.

The name of that made me think of mixing pasta and pizza. I wonder if that’s been done???

A pizzeria near me does a mac and cheese pizza (with or without buffalo chicken on it too) 😂

I've never tried the mac and cheese pizza, to be clear. Lol I've just noticed it on the menu.

I'm from Portugal, and for us, food is basically how we show love 😊

Of course, we have some well-known dishes like Bacalhau (they say it can be cooked in 1001 different ways), Caldo Verde, Arroz de Marisco, or even Pastéis de Nata. They’re all amazing.

But "home" for me? Feijoada.
A rich, creamy bean stew with different meats, served with rice. Perfect for cold days.

And my favourite memory is coming home on a freezing afternoon, the whole house smelling like garlic and slow-cooked beans. The kitchen warm, steam fogging the windows 🤤 My mom used to make it. And honestly, I’ve tried to copy it. Fancy restaurants, online recipes, everything. It never works. I think the secret ingredient wasn’t even the food. It was the feeling.

In Portugal we don’t just eat and leave. We stay at the table for hours, talking, drinking coffee, just being together.

For me, Feijoada is that. Family. Slow afternoons. A warm hug in a bowl 🍲❤️

I'm in the US, but half of my family comes from Portugal. Chourico is a staple food in my home. I love chourico and peppers or chourico and chips, a dish that we call "red potatoes," Portuguese stuffing at Thanksgiving, and kale soup! Yummy. I'm sure there's more I'm not thinking of, but it's always savory and delicious, filling food. For sweets, I love Portuguese rice pudding and even some sweet bread!
