I am having a hard time finding where to start. I have download Ling and subscribed to Cantonese Class 101 but I still find the lessons too advanced. I feel like I should be learning the sounds before moving on to words but I don’t know. Any advice?
Cantonese is difficult to learn, because it doesn't really have the pinyin that Mandarin has. Where you could learn the sounds and there are only so many to know. Cantonese is more like based on memorization and making up your own sounds for the words (which can be different for everybody). Another way would be watching television dramas in Cantonese, and repeat what they say.
