Things have been.. rough for the past few days. I had just recovered from the walls of Kevin Conroy, the Batman I grew up with. And now, I've lost another childhood hero. Jason David Frank, one of the best power rangers out there, passed away yesterday. I won't go into the details, because that just makes my mental health worse. Just know that I am struggling to come to terms with it.
I've had my dad snap at me at least twice already today. I feel like I just want to curl up in a corner, and let mushrooms overtake my body. I feel like a burden. I feel like a failure. And I feel so lost.
Some days are so hard. What are you trying to do to care for yourself?@BrokeasaurusRex
@kdsyahirah
Hi,
1) How are you feeling today? I feel just okay.
2) Have you slept well, ate and drank enough lately? I've been sleeping a lot because I've been deeply depressed. I always eat enough. I am always confused about drinking water vs drinking tea. I hear that tea counts as water and hear other places that it does not count. So I'm not sure.
3) What are the best or the worst thing that happened to you this month so far? I got a call from the public library that a volunteer position has opened up. I just pray it is the hours I can work.
4) Is there anything that we could do for you here to support you better? Be around on Thanksgiving. I could use the company. Thanks.
@purpleTree4652
Hi tree 💜
I’m glad to read that you’ve been eating enough. I did a quick bit of research, and apparently it’s all right to drink tea in place of water. The effects of dehydration are very insignificant and only occur if one is consuming abundant amounts of tea; sticking to a moderate amount is basically the same as drinking water. As for oversleeping, depression can do that because it just feels so draining to get out of bed and even try to do one’s regular routine. Your mind is essentially preoccupied with staying alive and safe, so it’s like there isn’t any energy left to do anything else. I’ve dealt with this in my own way countless of times. ♥️
I really hope the position at the library works out for you. I’m always praying for your success, safety, happiness and well-being. 💝
@TheAutumnWitch
Hi, Autumn! I am always so happy to hear from you. Thank you for the information. I didn't know that about depression being like all my energy is going to surviving. The amount of tea is the question. I've read what you read about tea, too. But I drink green tea and decaf tea and black tea and sometimes mix them and sometimes make doubles. I don't know how all that fits into it. But thank you for taking the time to look into these things for me.
I got a call from a library about volunteer work. That's great news. I'm still spent emotionally, physically, and mentally.
Take care.
Your friend, tree
@TheAutumnWitch
Hi, Autumn!
Happy Thanksgiving! How has your day been? Did you get to spend the day with your boyfriend? I hope that isn't too personal.
@purpleTree4652
Happy Thanksgiving to you, too, tree! 😊♥️
My day has been all right. Unfortunately, I got sick last night, so I couldn’t do the plans intended for today. I still got to enjoy some good food though.
And yes, I got to spend the day with my boyfriend. 😊 That wasn’t too personal to ask; I appreciate your consideration. My living situation is that I’m with my boyfriend, my best friend, and our puppy.
How was your day? ♥️
@TheAutumnWitch
Hi, Autumn! Thank you for the beautiful words and kitty pic. I loved it!
I'm sorry to hear that you were sick. Are you feeling any better or is it too soon to ask?
Truthfully, you, and some others on 7cups, help to make my day better! It was an odd and beautiful day. I said goodbye to my sister/employer yesterday as it was the last day I worked for her. And, honestly, I didn't expect her to say goodbye forever, but she chose to put it that way. So, even though she was not supposed to move until February or March, she made it clear that she would not see me again. I only live 20 miles away so if she really wanted to, she could come and visit me. She has never done so in the 2ish years that we have lived in this area. It was just an awkward and odd way to end my last day of working for her.
Don't get me wrong, I don't want to be around her anymore. She is mentally abusive. But I expected a smoother end to my employment. As usual, she made it odder and more uncomfortable than it had to be. I could have asked her questions as to why she was acting that way, but I chose not to. I've learned that I can't trust one word that comes out of her mouth. So I gracefully followed her lead, wished them well, and said goodbye. It's the last time I will be confused by her behaviour, and thrown under the bus.
It's just too complicated an unhealthy mental environment in her house. Maybe some day when we don't have anything better to talk about, I'll explain how and why I was thrown under the bus. The situation is that they don't live in reality. But I thank you for giving me the opportunity to talk about it a little, here. It's been on my mind.
It's best that we focus on how healthy it is for me to get out of that situation and move forward with my life. So, thank you for your sweet, sincere, unwavering support. You are a gem and I'm lucky to have you as a friend.
The beautiful part of my Thanksgiving was that it was calm and quiet. I had the windows open because the weather was beautiful and I took an afternoon nap with my cat, Chloe. I also ate good stuffing, mashed potatoes, corn and turkey breast.
I hope you feel better soon if you don't already! :)
your friend, tree
@purpleTree4652
I’m happy to help in any way I can, tree. ♥️
I’m still in the midst of the illness, although every time I fall asleep (whether inadvertently or on purpose), I wake up feeling a smidgen better. With any luck, I’ll be fully recovered this weekend.
Aww, I’m very happy to supply some happiness to your day! 🥰 Goodness, I can only imagine the intensity of the thoughts and emotions that have followed this occurrence regarding your sister. 🫤 I’m sorry that she has always mistreated you and that she didn’t even make your parting of ways the best, but I am glad that you’re away from that toxic presence now. As sad a reality it is to face, abusive people don’t tend to be nice unless it can benefit them in some way. Of course I don’t know the details to your relationship with her (and you may only disclose them to me however much you wish), but from my own experience I can say with relative certainty that abusers will never make anything less uncomfortable even if it doesn’t take much to do so. It’s part of their toxic mindset, I think- because they’re so entrenched in bitterness and trying to hurt others, they’ve led themselves to believe that it’s easier to be mean than to be kind. Perhaps some abusers can’t even fathom the concept of true kindness, or even decency.
I know all too well about people who don’t live in reality. To cope with it, I’d jokingly say that the state those people live in is “Denial”. Or, for a more personal touch, I say that the people of my biological family name “never surrender to common sense”. I’m more than happy and willing to provide you with this opportunity to talk as much as you need to.
Again, I’m glad that you are finally free of that negative environment, and I’m so excited for you to move forward in your life! The world is your oyster, tree. I’m lucky to have you as a friend, too. ♥️ Thank you for your kind and beautiful words.
I’m glad to read that you got to enjoy lovely food and time cuddling with Chloe! Please give her some headpats (or whatever gestures of affection she likes) for me. 😸
And again, thank you, tree. Thank you for being here. 💜
Sending endless love like the scattering of autumn leaves~ ♥️🍂🍁
@purpleTree4652
P.S. 😸♥️

It was so nice to see you posting again. I had been wondering how you were doing.
I don't think that you need to feel bad about water or tea. Drink what feels best to you.
The volunteer library position sounds like a good one. It can help you find your way out of this depression period. I know that they are hard and I am so sorry that you are suffering. You do try really, really hard and that matters.
You aren't alone on Thanksgiving. There are lots of us who want to be there alongside you. It may be more in spirit, but we are there. What kinds of things are you going to do to care for yourself on that day?
@purpleTree4652
@bestVase7265
Hi, Vase,
My brain feels like it is recovering from being beat up. It's hard for me to write much. I have too much to do; researching schools, researching jobs to maybe replace the lunch lady job, looking at apartments away from the water.
Tomorrow is the last day I clean at my sister/employer's house. It is sad that I might never see them again because I have tried with them, and they haven't shown an ounce of energy in trying with me. But it will be so good for my mental health to walk away and not let them abuse me anymore.
How is life, Vase?
You don't need to write much. I know that feeling of trying to write through brain fog. It is tough and you are doing well.
Tomorrow might be hard but it will be good ultimately for you to be away from people who abuse you. I hope that the day goes as smoothly as possible.
My life is in its normal end of year crazy stage. But I am trying to keep on plowing through it all.
I know that you are doing the same. Keep up the good work. You are going to get to the other side of this. @purpleTree4652
@bestVase7265,
I've been working my whole life to get on the other side of this. I can't even say that I feel close to making it because of being rejected by grad school. Yes, I am going to apply again but I don't have the energy or strength or interest.
Give yourself some time to recover and then know that I would be very willing to help you find a grad program that would work for you.
You aren't alone in any of this. I know that the struggle is long and hard. Some days just moving is tough. But I also know how strong you are. You will find a path. @purpleTree4652
@bestVase7265
Yes! I definitely take you up on your offer of helping me to find a grad program that works for me. How can we do this?
And know that if there is ever anything I can help you with, just ask.
Begin by telling me what you studied in your undergraduate and what you want to explore now.
We can do this a little each day until you decide what your next steps.@purpleTree4652
Hi @kdsyahirah
1) How are you feeling today?
I’m feeling all right. I was a little dizzy when I woke up, but I’m okay now. I’m trying to pace myself throughout the day since I have a lot of baking to do this week.
2) Have you slept well, ate and drank enough recently?
My sleep from last night was okay, but overall it’s still more normal for me to have poor sleep. “Sweet dreams are overrated” could be applied to me. As for eating and drinking, I could definitely do those a little more, but I’m definitely better than before. Having friends around who make sure I eat helps, so my ribs aren’t showing through my skin as much as they used to.
3) What are the best or worst things that have happened to you this month so far?
There hasn’t really been anything extraordinarily terrible that I’ve experienced this month, much to my gratitude. I’d say one of my highlights was seeing my friends jam for the first time. It’s pretty cool to see them becoming a band.
4) Is there anything we could do for you here to support you better?
You’re doing fine just the way you are. Thank you for making these check-ins and providing support.
♥️🍂🍁
Glad to hear things are okay. Have fun doing your baking. It is good that you have been able to see friends. @TheAutumnWitch
@bestVase7265
Thank you, Vase! ♥️ I always appreciate you checking in on me. How have you been?
I have been okay. The end of the year always feels way too busy, like I will never get it all done. So I am trying to not look down too much. But thanks for asking. @TheAutumnWitch
- not to good, kinda feel numb at the moment
- I’ve been eating ok I try to drink water but mostly end up drinking Arizona tea my comfort drink right now 4 hours of sleep right now is a blessing
- i had a big fight with my sister
I am so sorry that sleep is such a challenge and that you had an argument with your sister. That all sounds quite stressful. Did you want to tell us more?@raspberryApple2302
thanks for your reply, it’s just hard sometimes cause I’m an adult and she is still a child, but we’re siblings, I expect myself to be better and yet I let her words get to me, it’s complicated because I take care of all my younger siblings but sometimes I forget to take care of myself. I’m just glad I found this place so I can talk about things, otherwise I have no other way to tell anyone. @bestVase7265
That must be so hard caring for your siblings. Here is a great spot to vent. What other kinds of things do you do for yourself?@raspberryApple2302
@kdsyahirah I was on the strangest path of calm and relaxation and pure focus on my journey here most of the day, now I am back to below normal. I am really struggling but I need to find the strength to continue on the path I was on all day. I fear I will wake up in the morning and my health will have slid and all that was accomplished today will have been for nothing.
Even ONE HOUR of peace is worth something. That you got more than that is great. I know tomorrow is scary but it could also have some okay moments. Please let us know how things go. @Iamwhoiamwhoami
@bestVase7265 you are so right. I am so lucky to have experienced yesterday. Today it feels like I was on a rollercoaster. I am have dropping to a low I have not experienced in quite some time. I have had multiple memory problems today . My social anxiety was at a massive high this morning, I only had to go outside and take some things out of my truck.
Remember that a lot of this is brain chemicals misfiring. When your anxiety or depression spike, it isn't your fault. Blaming yourself makes things even harder.
It really is a roller coaster for all of us. What you are looking for is making the ups and downs less sudden and steep.
For me, it really begins with recognizing that the good exists at all. If I can see it and call it a victory (rather than going I had 10 hours of *** and one hour where things felt minimally okay so I am going to label that a bad day), it helps.
Have you ever tried writing down the victories (even if they are stupid ones)? Your brain is always retrainable. It is just really hard. But I can tell that you are already turning a corner by how you are posting. @Iamwhoiamwhoami
@bestVase7265 no I don’t write down… I will try and come back to this to respond, I am really losing focus right now. Thank you once again for your kindness.
Write back when you can and when you want to. No pressure here. @Iamwhoiamwhoami
Thanks so much for sharing the appreciation. It made my day. @Iamwhoiamwhoami
1. I'm feeling okay today. I've eaten poultry twice this week, so the amount of triptophan in my system is high. This should keep me balanced for at least a couple of days.
2. I'll admit, these past two nights have been rough. I got up at 5:30 a.m. the other day, and then I slept all the way until 10:00 this morning. Honestly, I'm surprised my schedule hasn't gotten worse, all things considered.
3. Y'all already know what the worst thing to happen to me this month was. Both Kevin Conroy, and Jason David Frank have both passed away. It hasn't been easy for me to cope.
4. I honestly don't know. I don't even know how to help myself. Maybe the answer will come to me sometime soon.
On a brighter note, I'm going to a rock and gem show tomorrow! I kind of have this fondness for collecting gems and other Stones now. As I dictate this to my phone, my hands are busy fidgeting with an oval shaped hematoid quartz. It's nice and smooth. I hope I'll be able to find some neat stuff tomorrow!
It sounds like going to the gem show is helping yourself. What you do can be small. @BrokeasaurusRex
i haven’t had the best of days. Exam stress sucks and I just want it all over with. I recently got insurance, which is helpful, but it doesn’t start until January. My biggest problem right now is that I’m still depressed with my life. At 26 I’ve never had any romantic interactions and I still haven’t overcome my social anxiety. I’m wondering if I’m even human anymore because I don’t see why I’m bothering to continue life. If I’m just going to be alone, and I don’t get to experience true human experiences, why stay living?
Get through the exam stress first. It isn't fun, but you are headed in a good direction on that front.
You can overcome the social anxiety too. It is just another front to work on. Consider how much better you are than just a year ago. What you have overcome means that overcoming the other stuff is possible too.
None of it is easy, but you don't have to start big. Start small. Pick something in the next week that you could attend (music, a lecture, just going to the library) that would involve being in a room with others. Then just observe people. You don't have to talk. Just get comfortable with activity going on around you.
You are a lot braver and stronger than you think. @Server8462
@bestVase7265
Hi, Vase,
I saw a notification from you asking what I studied. I clicked on other notifications first and all the subsequent notifications disappeared. That happens to me on 7cups and it makes me mad. I don't know where to find your message.
Are you using the app or the computer? I gave up on the app a few years back. Things feel more solid on my laptop. We can try connecting here if you want. @purpleTree4652
@bestVase7265
I am using a laptop but I downsize the screen to take up half my screen, so I can have something else opened at the same time on the right side of my screen.
You might try opening multiple 7 Cups windows. @purpleTree4652
Take it all a day at a time, just like you took today. The further ahead that you think the more scared you are going to get.
You don't have to do great on your exams. You just need to try to pass them. It is okay not to have a good semester. Your brain is in a fog right now and you are doing the best that you can.@brightApple4973
1) How are you feeling today? Today I am not doing well, my heart is broken and the hurt is intense.
2) Have you slept well, ate and drank enough lately? I have only been getting 3-4 hours of sleep at night for the past few weeks
3) What are the best or the worst thing that happened to you this month so far? I have started having memories from my childhood trauma.
4) Is there anything that we could do for you here to support you better? I am not sure.
Sending strength and peace. Tell us more.@Judy7
thought i should do this because its on my growth path thing but i feel weirdly self conscious about posting
1) Not feeling so great, which has been a common theme especially this month. its because i made a pretty bad mistake while practicing driving today and i haven't worked on any school stuff in a while so thats stressing me out.
2) i havent had the most ideal amount of sleep, food, and water today but ive had close to enough.
3) best thing that happened this month is i started watching bojack horseman. worst thing is i failed my driving test and then that triggered me to spiral into a depressive episode for a week and i still feel that episode lingering
4) for me? honestly no
Learning driving is really hard. There are lots of people who don't pass at first. You will figure it out slowly but surely. Sending peace.@varnpireweekend
