Hey, I hear you. I really do. And I want you to know this first you haven't failed anyone. You’re not broken. You’re just hurting. Opening up about depression takes so much courage and the fact that you did it even when it left you feeling raw and exposed shows incredible strength. I’m sorry your mom didn’t understand the way you needed her to. Most people don’t really get depression unless they’ve been through it themselves. It’s not about having or not having a reason depression doesn’t work that way. It just shows up, quietly and heavily, and starts dimming everything. It’s not your fault. You didn’t make her sad you trusted her with your pain. That’s not a burden, it’s an act of connection. Sometimes parents respond with confusion or fear because they love you so much and feel helpless. But their reaction doesn’t make your feelings any less valid. You’re tired, and that’s okay. Exhaustion like this isn’t weakness. You’ve been carrying so much silently, trying to make sense of something that doesn't always have clear answers. And still, here you are trying. Reaching out. Wanting to feel better. That matters. That’s powerful. You are not alone. And those dark thoughts that tell you you’ve failed, that you’re a burden they are lying. You’re still here. You’re still fighting. And even if it doesn’t feel like progress right now, it is. You deserve help, care, and healing not just for the people around you, but for yourself. Because you're worth that. Please, if the voices feel too loud or if you're feeling unsafe, talk to a mental health professional or reach out to a crisis helpline. It’s okay to ask for support more than once. You’re allowed to need time. You’re allowed to not have all the answers. You are loved. Even if it’s hard to see right now, there is a light ahead. You won't always feel this way.
I'm proud of you for speaking this out loud. Please hold on. You’re not alone in this.
I'm sorry to hear that wisteria. Sometimes people, even our parents don't understand or respond to mental health struggles the right way.
That wasn't the way your mum should have responded though, and she definitely could have responded better. I hope you open up to someone else you trust who can provide you love and support as you're going through this time.
Hang in there, sending you love. You're not a burden and you're valuable ❤

oh honey I am so sorry. it's really easy to feel like you're hurting them by opening up, but really, you are showing them how strong you are. at first it may be hard for your mother to understand what your going through, but it's important to know that you just took the first step in a journey to better days. I hope you are able to speak to your mother about your thoughts and try to help her understand.
I hope i can i don't think she will ever understand though for some reason no matter how much I try to tell them they forget it by the next days and it makes me regret telling them because it feels like my feelings and pain are so easily forgettable and not important
@wisteria28
I promise you are important, and so are your struggles. it's really hard for parents to truley see how much were hurting because they aren't seeing the situation through our eyes, and sometimes they try to block out our concerns in hopes that it isn't true. please remember that you are not alone. even if just on here, there are many people you will find that will care about you and support you. if they really aren't hearing you, is there anybody else you can tell? I hope you can find a way to get support <3
Thanks you even though I have no one to talk to since I ve been dismissed by my own family and i don't have much friends but this community has been so helpful to me in so many ways ☺️ 🫂🤍

It’s really brave that you opened up here, especially after how hard it was to talk to your mom. I can hear how painful that moment was to be vulnerable and then feel like you somehow made things worse. That feeling of disappointing people, of being too much or not enough all at the same time, and different feelings dragging you in different ways is very overwhelming.
You mentioned wanting to get better but feeling stuck, and I just want to say that says a lot about your strength, even if it doesn’t feel like it right now, a part of you is still fighting to be better, and that's a very resilient quality you have. Sometimes, just surviving and writing what you wrote takes more courage than people realize.
I’ve had moments where opening up felt like a mistake too, like it backfired. It taught me how much we all need safe people who can just listen — I hope this space can be that for you.

First of all, you are so brave for opening up about your feelings here. It must be tough to have your mother respond so negatively to you opening up about your depression, but it's important to remember that you always have a supportive and open community here on 7Cups. Wishing you the best!
