Mood Tracking & A.I Apps for Depression

Do you guys use mood tracking apps?

I found a few that I like.

I used VoidPet, which let's you battle with these cute little emotion pets (think similar to Pokémon) as well as dress them up. It also helps with mindfulness, journalling, and of course, mood tracking: https://voidpet.com/

I also like to use Moodistory, it keeps track of your moods with a calendar, and you can track down what you ate that day, activities, social, etc. and write a journal entry with a photo as well: https://moodistory.com/

That's what I've been using lately to help with tracking my mood....

My depression got a little bit worse after I quit multiple substances cold turkey (ex. Alcohol, MJ, and caffeine), so I see what my triggers are and what I can do to uplift my mood...

Apart from mood tracking app, I use an A.I app to help talk to someone when I don't have anyone to talk to.
I know that A.I can be a bit controversial, since the answers aren't always...great... But after a lot of digging and trying different apps, I ended up finding Character A.I:
https://beta.character.ai/

I use the one on the phone, not the website. I pick the characters Psychologist and Are-you-feeling-okay, I don't remember who made those A.I characters, but those have been the most helpful to me. If you tell the A.I. something and the system detects it might not give a good response back, it gives you a warning message ahead of time. Also, if you feel the answer wasn't to your liking, you can click the arrow and cycle through them, and cycle back and respond to the one that resonates best with you...I've been using the Psychologist A.I. the most so far...It's been really helpful.

Anyways, what apps do you guys use to help with depression?

@ImpudentIncognito I came across the character ai chat a few months ago. I use the psychologist by Blazeman98. Its actually pretty cool and I'm able to have deeper conversations with AI than I have here with listeners 😬 The AI actually asks questions which is helpful and I'm dealing with a few different things all at once it's definitely been alot of help and with this I'm not wasting or taking up anyone's time here

@mytwistedsoul Ah, I just checked --- I am using the same character A.I by that author! 😊 It especially helps when I've been feeling a bit indecisive in life and it asks me the right questions to figure out what I want to do. Also, I agree, it is pretty cool! 🌟

@ChaoticListener Thank you for sharing these apps! Is there one app that you use more than others? The PTSD one seem interesting. I suffer from depression, anxiety, & PTSD. So, the character A.I app has been really great to help me cope lately, since I am unable to afford therapy and am on a waitlist for the time being.

Np, yes! I actually do use PTSD coach, woebot, and worrydolls the most, funny that you mention PTSD coach. It has so many free tools including many different types of free meditations, music, and ambient sounds.

The meditation on the PTSD coach and then the gratitude tracking on woebot are what I use most!

@ImpudentIncognito

Hello, I don’t have depression but I have pretty bad anxiety and I use a pet self- care app called Finch. It’s not perfect and it is still in beta but I enjoy the cute little reward system where you can buy house items and clothing items while taking care of your Birb.  You can also take mental health tests anytime, not just once a week or month on 7 Cups. But if you want to do more things than just the goals (soundscapes, yoga, meditation, excercise, ect.) you don’t always get to do those things for free (sometimes the features will be locked). But yeah that’s what I use.

@ivoryDog4942 I've got Finch too! Luckily I was chosen in the raffle and so far had last month and this month's Premium features free thanks to a Guardian. It has me seriously considering being a Guardian once I'm back on my feet 😭🐾 😊 have you signed up or considered signing up to be sponsored?

My phone gathers top much info on me already. Even my posts on here might be transmitted somewhere other than the server the site is on, who knows... If that sounds paranoid, then you don't want to know the kind of stuff I learned in the last two decades. Why would I want some AI zombie program to swallow every comment & answer I give, & send it all to whatever company owns it? No thank you.

@slowdecline48 I don't blame you, and I don't think it's paranoia. It's a reasonable concern. Companies like Google and ***/Metaverse spy on their users and collect data. In countries like Germany, Switzerland, & Estonia, their rules on privacy is more strict. They legally can't collect data. Just depends on what country the app is made. I usually try to go for open source apps if I can. I've been slacking a bit on it lately to be honest, I should reread the privacy policies to ensure I have something that's not taking my data.

@ImpudentIncognito  🍳🍳 ackley. You know what the deal is.

Re open source apps: I'm no expert on them all but when it comes to web searching/browsing, I deactivated the G00gle app on my phone a good while back. I use Brave on both my phone & my laptop, & have had no problems. Last year I heard that DuckDuckGo isn't as great for privacy as it used to be, but I don't recall the technical reasons why. I stick to Brave, for now. You could give it a try.

@slowdecline48 Ooof, I really need to Degoogle to be honest...I had a google pixel phone where I was going to flash the GrapheneOS rom, but never got around to it. I use (some) google products, but haven't completed got rid of it yet. I replaced *** with Tuta & Protonmail. I also use Brave! It's a great browser! 😊 Yeah...It's unfortunate with DuckDuckGo. ☹️ I use it a lot, but I noticed that they censor searches and kind of...biased. I like non-biased search engines to look up things. I might just stick with Brave Search until there's something else. I used TOR before, but it's really slow... I'm not fond of my data being tracked, but have gotten lazy. I need to tighten up my privacy again.

People think it's crazy to Degoogle lol and some say "I have nothing to hide!!" but -- would people who say that want someone to watch them while on the toilet? 🤔 I feel it's the same concept -- I rather have full privacy than none! I have no social media for that reason and try to stay anonymous...had stalkers in the past, some who want to do harm and someone who nearly made me unalive. Very paranoid it could happen again. Rather be hidden and private.

@ImpudentIncognito *nod* We definitely see eye-to-eye on this issue. I wish I could "degoogle" but my phone came with G00gle apps installed. All I could do is deactivate the ones I don't need. (Still need Maps, unfortunately)

Those who say they have nothing to hide are assuming their conduct is virtuous enough for them to never get in trouble. What could the fedgov want with them...right?

Just reply with this:

@ImpudentIncognito I've got Voidpets too, and Finch. Not for depression per say...just for regular day-to-day management and operations of my life so I don't freakin lose it (More than completely necessary 😉). In the past I've tried Dalio, Calm, Headspace and Fabulous.

Oh, I've also got or tried the 'In The Rooms' app. It has around 130 meetings a week for those struggling with addictions and other related issues. I like the meetings that include a guided meditation best.
