Empty Support Rooms
Hiya Lovelies!
All of the rooms have been empty for so long that rooms are now being closed! What is happening? We need to chat and support each other.
@blossombreathe
i know on the teen side alot of people who i have spoken to are scared of the rooms because when they are in there they either get ignored... get triggered so told to leave so they have no where else to go. so alot of people members and listeners i know darent enter them now...
@JoyIntoDarkness
That's so horrible to hear.
We need to do something about it!
@blossombreathe
I avoid them persinally cause if im in them injust get iggnored trying tonsupport others and when talking and trying to seek support. I dont like them no more cause you ask 'can you not use caps because they are triggering' or 'can you not swear' they will do it more just to upset you and push you over the edge and they laugh about it. :( im scared of group support now...
@JoyIntoDarkness
Yes I see what you mean. They are quite horrible places at times.
@blossombreathe
Its changed so much over the past year. :( it just feels unsafe
@JoyIntoDarkness
Hello
How are you?
@blossombreathe
Why the link? Just curious x
@JoyIntoDarkness
I think we need to see what others opinions are on the topic. The group chats aren't as nice as they used to be!
@blossombreathe
Yeah i think there should be like a question posted or sometheing for teens and adults to respond to. Xx
I'm not on the teen side but yeah it's pretty quiet in the adult side too though. Most rooms are empty most of the time. We still have 3 depression rooms which are only memories of the days when more than one room was open to guests. And then the temporary rooms srya open longer than they should which makes it feel even more empty. And then when you do find a room with life in it, it feels like a private conversation that you don't want to intrude on.
*stay
I've tried them a several times other than a guided discussion. However, I've expereienced some of the things mentioned in this thread. Getting ignored (so I may as well go read, watch a movie, declutter the house, call up a friend), lots of cussing and inappropriate comments, trolling. It's sad, really. A couple of times, I've had an absolutely
wonderful
time and met some fantastic friends along the way. It's very sad that there are just enough persistently naughty chatters who are interfering with such a lovely way to get support. So, unless I happen to just linger with folks after a guided discussion and chat a bit, I don't go to the rooms anymore.
I love the guided discussions, though.
To be honest, I'm not a regular user of support rooms - I only visit them for guided discussion, because that's the environment which makes me the most comfortable. And I have access only to the Adult side. But I've heard awful stories about unsupportive vibe they lately tend to create and not only on the Teens side. We can't let that situation to remain, so the question is what can we do as our whole sub-community to change it?
Just like @blossombreathe already suggested, I think we can be more active there, use them more often to chat and show the ways of support people can give to each other. For example, I'll try to be there not only for the scheduled discussion. Still this is a topic for the whole community to ponder about, so I'm tagging the current Depression Support Team:
@Dillion, @MissZ, @Cadence, @Lyra, @ZaraSmiles, @Annie, @BellaFreedom, @Bonnieheart, @Briana98, @Introvert73, @Monarda, @emotionalPine52, @politeCup86, @squib, @Giaberry, @HardLuck, @Ila, @KatiexxMarieee, @Nada, @Nagisa , @PolarCat, @RumpleSteeleSkin, @TheThomas, @ZizyTheTurtle, @beYOUtywithin, @caringHoliday93, @fluffyUnicorns84
Looking forward to the discussion, especially from the regular visitors of the chatrooms!
@Celaeno This is definitely a problem. I will try to come up with some reasons as to why the support rooms may be emptier nowadays. The list is in no particular order.
1) People are ignored and therefore do not benefit from being in support rooms.
2) People are triggered and do not want to mute others, so they simply leave.
3) People may feel as if they are being watched by moderators and so they create listener accounts in order for their buddies to contact them privately (may lead to rule-breaking such as social media sharing).
4) People may feel as though they've been harassed by a moderator, so they simply leave.
5) People get warned by a moderator and hesitate to return because they fear making mistakes.
6) People may become overwhelmed when chats are moving too quickly, so they simply leave.
@ZizyTheTurtle, wow, that's quite comprehensive, thank you so much!
