Anyone else use music as an escape?

I have both depression and anxiety, and I know this sounds clicheand everything, but music is one of my only escapes from reality. It's not just listening to music that helps me-it's seeing the lyrics written out, it's seeing the band members, it's hearing what they have to say.

Because of my depression, it's hard for me to feel most of the time. But whenever I listen to music, I can feel. It's like my choice of drug. Whenever my anxiety kicks in, I just listen to some Never Shout Never or Marianas Trench to calm me down.

Please tell me I'm not the only one who uses music as an escape?

Music can sometimes be a solace to me, especially some music by J. S. Bach.

Music is my only escape. I don't have any friends so I just turn to music and books. They both help me with my depression, unless it gets too dark then I have to write or look at stuff on Tumblr or something.

Absolutely. I'm not sure what I'd do without it. For every mood and emotion there's music to compliment it, and for the times when you don't feel like music, there's silence; and silence is music too.

Everyday, often music I relate to, makes me feel better.

Music has been the escape and solace from my depression for years for me. I have definitely worn down my ear drums by all of the live shows I have gone to and how loudly I listen to my music on my headphones. I got into metal, screamo, and hard rock exactly because it was a way to express all of the dark things that I feel, but also it was a form of beautiful release. I also used to look at the band members, as in the album covers for the CDs and read their lyrics and especially their 'thank you' portions to their friends and stuff.
