When it comes to that time of the year, not winter. It's usually caused by something big... my depression works as a dominoeffect.

It starts off with me getting yelled at. This later on bothers me for the next day and a half. Afterwards another event happens such as, I lost a best friend...

This hurts me alot and it's extremely hard to focus. Later on I even learned that people on my Playstation that I talked to end up leaving me.

To get over my own depression sometimes I just lay in bed and cry it out. Play video games. Or talk to my friends online to keep my mind off the topic.

It make me careless of whats around me, it feeds my already pending problem of procrastination causing me to curl up in the dark and sleep for hours on end. My music can be very negative sometimes but it help me release my emotions

I have difficulty sleeping so I'm often very tired & nonproductive on top of feeling unmotivated. Then I'm paranoid those around me will assume I'm lazy & I get very anxious about the fact that I can't seem to accomplish simple tasks in a timely manner.

I want to mask my real emotions by using negative coping skills that are a waste of my time and won

Depression can definitely impact your daily living. I know for myself, my depression and anxiety go hand in hand. I'll get extremely anxious about something, and immediately become upset. It effects my trust in others. I feel I can't trust many people, or if someone is too nice there must be a motive behind it. There will be mornings I do not want to get out of bed and face reality. Or, in the middle of the day I just want to go to sleep. For me, my depression impacts me going out and meeting people for fear of rejection as well.

The depression makes it hard to get out of bed and get ready for the day.

I feel finite, numbered, like everything will end in a snap of my fingers. So I read a book and pretend to be someone else for a while..

One way my depression is impacting my daily life is ... my ADLs (Activities of Daily Living). You know, stuff 'everyone else' does every day without thinking that "Gee this does take energy, doesn't it!" Like shower/bath, brush teeth, washing dishes.

I am doing well with Walk the dog and Do the laundry - yay! It feels like such a little 'yay' when I look at all I'm not doing = sad Platy.

@rozie @Laura @Kate - hey Kate, reply to me?? ;) @rosyOctopus @Moj - cuz I miss ya! @Anomalia @annie ... yup, yous guys. heart

@cyanPlatypus6370 - doesn't sound so little to me! little victories count and they add up to bigger steps! Starting with taking care of your pup and getting laundry done is a great start and a great way to maintain some consistency in those ADLs.

@Anomalia

Thank you Anomalia! It is hard for me to remember about little steps. Whatever part of me just (enter very sarcastic tone) LOVES to (enter normal tone) squish any momentum or erase even the idea that "oh that was a baby step - yay!" Yup, so ... thank you for the reminder. <3 Platy

@cyanPlatypus6370 I hear ya on those other things being difficult. I often think before I do something...does it really HAVE to be done? Or...do I have the energy and strength to actually follow through with it? My pain has been high lately, increasing depression, and decreasing motivation and ability to do many things. So much of my stuff sits waiting to be done, but I need to look at the little victories of what I can or do, do. And same with you Platy friend. Be proud of yourself on the things you have been able to do, your puppy appreciates that care. In time you will be able to focus on those other things again. heart Thanks for sharing and being open with us all.

With depression, I'm no longer a participant in life, just a passanger. Hopelessness tells me that I can't take control of what's happening around me. And, without a sense of independence, I feel vulnerable. Sometimes I let it show, calling out to friends and telling them about whatever's been going through my mind lately, as if desperation counted for conversation. Quickly losing my temper if they don't understand, hurting the ones I love most. Shouldn't I know better than this? Sometimes I delete my social media and isolate, a last attempt at seeking proof that I could be relevant enough for someone to reach to me in private. When did I start relying on others to determine my self-worth? Did I ever stop? I want some validation, please, I can't produce my own. In my head I see a twisted reflection of myself - a vicious leech that takes the good from people but doesn't even make any good from it. I know it's not real, yet why did I open the door? I allowed this to happen because I wasn't strong enough. Get over it. Get over it. Move on. My legs don't move. It's not my fault, but it'd be foolish of me to look away. I try to fast-forward recovery sleeping off the days. I could stare it down until it disappears, I've done it before. Though that would explain how it's never really gone.

I got kinda poetic on that second half. cheeky
