Sometimes it feels there's no "bright side" to something and no "silver lining" and that's okay too. It's still always valid to feel as you do. 💛
@Sunisshiningandsoareyou I agree Sun. I understand that feeling overwhelmed or hopeless can be difficult emotions to experience. But trying to share and talk more about what's bringing up these feelings are helpful. One's feelings and experiences are valid.
@ASilentObserver Certainly, Obziee, grateful a place as 7 cups exists for exactly that! Thankyou for replying, as well as these prompts! ❤
Depression can be physically painful. Headaches, backaches, chest aches. There's a lack of feeling, and on the other end an abundance of feeling. And not having a reason for it. The lack of motivation. And once your house is looking like a hoarders, not knowing how to start fixing it.
I so feel all of what you are saying. I hope that you can build up towards feeling less pain soon. Look at all of it as little steps rather than a big pile. It makes it less daunting. @cheebsra
@bestVase7265 Thank you. You're very kind.
How have things been the last few days?@cheebsra
@bestVase7265 things are okay. Always up and down, but there have been positives lately. How are you, friend?
I am doing well. Keep counting those positives! @cheebsra
@cheebsra I agreed with you Cheebsra. Depression can manifest in difficult physical and emotional ways. One experiences a range of painful symptoms, including both a lack of feeling and an abundance of intense feelings, as well as low motivation and being overwhelmed. But knowing that your experiences are valid and that you are not alone in struggling with these challenges is sort of comforting. And then exploring how you cope with these experiences or what can be helpful is good step. We are all in this together
@ASilentObserver
When i am in my down mood the world actually looks different.
A sunny day is not longer that sunny, people look foreboding, and i notice every defect in the world.
Hoping that today was one of the better ones.@Gettingbettertoday
@Gettingbettertoday Exactly. I get it. When you experience lower mood, your perceptions are impacted and the world does not seem as hopeful or positive. I can understand how that shift in outlook would make sunny days feel overcast and interactions seem more negative or concerning. The feelings of noticing mostly imperfections likely adds to the heaviness of the mood. How are you coping with mood changes and the shifts in your experiences of the world?
@ASilentObserver
I am not coping very well. Once i get into the mind it is hard to get out. Mostly my mind runs away with me and makes it worse.
people in your life might not understand and walk away because they don’t know how to handle it with you by your side.
@ASilentObserver I don't know officially if i am having depression or not, but sometimes I feel stuck and hopeless. sometimes, just like a few moments earlier, worthless. Your heart wants to live a happy life, but your brain just slaps you with all the bad things happened in past. in beginning you wish that it to end, but later you wish to sleep forever. sometimes, I cannot handle all of this. Plus, Someone like me who doesn't has any friends will feel that you're in empty world. everybody is against you, one way or another. Later your grades will plummet and your parents will be more critical of you. you will wish to quit all of this
You sound like you are in pain. Are you able to talk to anyone about how you are feeling? @ApurvaSingh123
@bestVase7265 no. I was feeling same a month ago. I tried to tell one of my classmate what i was going through but then she said to everyone that I was stalking her. I felt like i am the most terrible and 'criminal' person in the room. Since that I have only relied on 7 Cups chat.
That sounds like a pretty horrible experience that was traumatic. One of the keys to surviving depression is finding people in real life who can also help you along the way.
It might be time to try to find someone new. What would it look like to tell your doctor how you have been feeling?@ApurvaSingh123
@bestVase7265 I live In Himachal Pradesh India. Its a mountainous area in foothill range of himalyas. here is only one hospital with only emergency services. I can go to chandigarh but I don't know how to find a government clinics which treats minors for free because i don't want my parents to know about it.
That makes sense. Supporting you from here until you can find a better path sounds like a good option.
How were things today?@ApurvaSingh123
Just checking in to see how things are going for you. @ApurvaSingh123
@bestVase7265 Hi!
sorry i didn't reply because I was busy in studies. Tomorrow I am going to shift to another metro city in india. I will be studying alone for next 2 years. I have found a way to skip the pain. That is to fully indulge into studies. For example I studied for 14 Hours straight with just one break. When I go to sleep, I just feel that I am stuck and worthless and I don't know why but I miss my old female classmate (to whom i was kind of attracted) very badly.
You might be able to find some better health services in a new city. It is good that working is helping right now though. @ApurvaSingh123
@ApurvaSingh123 I'm sorry to hear you are struggling with these difficult feelings. It sounds like you are experiencing a lot of pain and difficult emotions, and feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness can be overwhelming. Please know that you are not alone, and there are caring people and resources to help. You can feel free to share as much or as little as you'd like. Please know we are all here with you
@ASilentObserver Thank You for your wishes.
Eeeeeee!!! I love this thread. Thank you so much for making it!!!
- You lose your energy. You have no energy for anything even the things that make you feel better, even the things you WANT to do you can’t. Even the stupid things that you would do without a second thought take So. Much. Energy!
- Everyone knows that when ur depressed your tired - but I didn’t realize it means you can’t sleep!!!!
- @chrebra u love your answer. The physical pain is almost worse. And grounding is supposed to help the emotional pain but then you have to deal with the physical pain ( I’m not sure if that’s depression related or trauma related so disregard if it’s not)
- Your appetite changes. Those things that tasted awesome don’t anymore. Even like non nutritious stuff like candy or thingd like that don’t taste good anymore.
- You kinda have to take care of your friends. Granted you don’t have that kind of energy but oh well.. Everyonr noticies that you changed and is worried and they want you to tell them your okay but there’s nothing to say
- Talking is hard. I never ever ever thought that could happen to me. But even talking to ppl u love talking to is just hard and your too tired to deal with anyone else’s emotions or even just a simple surface conversation you just can’t!
- Physical touch is ugh!!
Hope u guys r having an okay day. sending love ❤️
@AdventureCode345 Thank you for sharing your insights Code. And welcome to 7cups.
I agree with you that someone who experienced depression struggles with feeling extreme fatigue and lack of energy to do even simple tasks that one would normally enjoy. It's understandable that this would make daily life challenging. Not being able to sleep, changes in appetite, and difficulty connecting with others can all be common experiences when depressed or dealing with trauma.
But, also to acknowledge that your feelings are valid and that you are not alone in what you are going through. While these experiences are difficult, reaching out for help and support can help you feel less overwhelmed. We are all in this together
@ASilentObserver One More thing: I think my thinking power is reduced. Like I am having difficulty in solving same math questions which i solved easily a month ago. Since my mother tongue is Hindi, I am doing silly errors In English and Punjabi. I was trying to learn German but I have lost motivation. Also I am very irritated if my phone lags for half a second or My neighbor shouts. I am also not able to focus on my studies since a month.
Note for high school students : I know the student debt crisis of US. You can study in Germany where education is free. And German Language is just like english (except that Der,Das thing).
