My Experiences of Loneliness
Hi everyone! My name is Sya. You might have seen me around this forum. I bring up my sharing today to fill our times here so feel free to continue reading.
My life has not been something that pleasant me the most. I've always been on a rocky paths. Even my chilhood years were not as exciting and as memorable as everyone else had. I'm rather an introvert person. I have only brothers for my siblings and with that said I'm the only daughter in the house. I have a hard time getting along with my family since my parents always busy due to works and big age gaps between my brothers.
At school, I had a hard time getting along with others and making new friends. Even if I had problems, I tend to keep it all to myself because eventhough I was still a child at that time, I was well awared that my parents were exhausted from works. Reaching out to my siblings seemed impossible since I barely talked to them.
Time flies fast. Life thought me a thing and another. It hit me hard when I realized that I'd been lonely for a long time. Not going to lie, sometimes loneliness love to hit me out of nowhere. Most of the time, I found myself crying in a private space because I feel really lonely. Socializing was really a struggle for me not to mention being vulnerable. Although I even had an achievement that I was eager to share, I just kept it alone after realizing I had no one to talk to.
My personality is pretty different from others as well. My mom keep bragging me to change my personality and have same interest like others. I felt like I was not understood and supported by my family members. I'd been in romantic relationships too. I felt pity for my ex to accept me in that state, lost and hopeless. Our relationship didn't last long after that. I respected his decisions to leave but I never knew how lonely and sad I was to get over it.
Coping with loneliness is something that I'm still trying my best. Yeah, I know it's not as easy as it said but there's nobody will gonna do it for you. A small step like talking to my pets make me less lonely. They are the creature which could bring my smile like always. I have a few closed friends that I treasure the most so I always check up on them and have a little chit-chats and it works on me. Sometimes I listen to relatable musics to calm myself and boost my moods. And about my family, I've been trying to engage conversations with them even if it is a small chats. A small effort still counts.
Why do I share you my experiences? Well, it's because I want you to know that you're not alone in this fight. Maybe our struggles are differents but it doesn't mean that you're efforts and emotions shouldn't be recognized and aren't valid. You're still you and special in the way you are. Remember that every good thing takes its own time to come. Patience is a beautiful act of kindness we could do to ourselves and I really believe in you.

It's been harder with the pandemic because I cannot get out.
Our friends either have families of their own, dealing with their sick parents or kids. (I have mental issues so I avoid kids.)
I also live in the middle of nowhere or so it feels that way, so it's hard just to make friends.
I also tried to make friends online, but most people want "adult themed things" like the friends with benefits. I just want somone I can chat with, write with or someone who jsut understand me.
@Rebekahwriter13 I agree about the pandemic. I have a hard time dealing with th elockdown as well. I wish you'll find friends who you are comfortable around and understand you as well.
Hi everyone. This is the first time in my weird life of 20 years that i am accepting that i am lonely. So pls bear with me for any mistakes. I have working parents who usually tend to keep secrets from their children. I have a 2 year younger sister who is my life. Being an eldest daughter in a conservative Indian family is something only sufferers know. Pressure of being perfect in everything, hiding any "weak" emotions and nobody to guide you through the rough patch. On top of that a strict dad doesn't help. Naturally I have grown up with an attitude of 'my problem is only my problem and nobody needs to be bothered for it'. Life always felt easy with me and my sister. I never cared if i wasn't her best friend or even if she didn't share everything with me. All that mattered was that she was with me and that she was safe and happy. But now that i am away from home studying to be a doctor, i realized how pathetic the situation is. I make friends and they leave me. They come back and they leave me alone. They talk to me but it always feels like i dont have enough to offer in the conversation. I spend days wondering what did i do to get this when in reality I am aware that i didn't do anything. And now that my only 2 friends here have found my replacements, i know they are not coming back. It sucks but I guess this is life. O don't know what I am gonna do about it, but I do know that I am never gonna give up on myself. I know I am a good person and i deserve care. If not more then at least the same amount that i do.
Hi guys I'm also really lonely and I keep all my problems to myself :( I wish I could be happy thank you so much to everyone for sharing your experiences , it makes me feel less like a failure and like it's not my fault
I only have 1 friend maybe 2 in my new area. Its sucks because she works a lot too. Im also struggling with losing motivation too and impeding things I want to do but I can't do them. I need to get back in therapy too I need guidance desperately.
i have no friends that i can share my emotions with and i have to filter myself around all of them. my whole life I've bottled up my emotions until i found someone i could be myself with and who i could share my feelings with. i started dating her and we were always there for eachother and we loved eachother so much but now her parents banned her from seeing me and i feel more alone than ever, i miss her so much.
Sending caring thoughts your way. I hope you will find supportive people to help you through this loss.
Aw 😔 how come her parents banned you from seeing her? That must be so hard, hope you're ok ❤️
Thank you for sharing, and I'm glad you have this forum. I too struggle with loneliness. We moved to a new state 5 years ago, and it's been hard for me to make new friends, even though I have a wide circle of acquaintances. I miss my old friends a lot and stay in touch with a few. It's been hard for me to determine if my loneliness is due to my depression, or something else. I wonder if others keep a distance if they can sense pain. I try to keep my depression hidden but I wonder if people are naturally intuitive and shy away from people with depression. I do enjoy my own company, and find ways to make my alone time enjoyable (reading, exercise, music) but I am alone a lot. As my kids get older, I've wanted to work, and some promising jobs are on the horizon, so hopefully a meaningful outlet like work will assuage the loneliness. There's a neighborhood clique I've been grieving over a lot and I see them out in their yards near my home a lot. They don't really invite me in and it hurts, but I just keep telling myself it's not for me anyway. Regardless, social rejection is painful. I am always wondering why I wasn't good enough to be welcomed by them.
No one wants you here. Everyone pretends because they want to use you, no one will really care about you here or in your life. You will always wake up alone, no matter how you try to convince yourself, you still be a loser, everyone is losers, all will d ie in agony and fear. There are no good endings, the best option is to Di e right now, before more bad things happen. You have no hope and your dreams mean nothing, no one will ever support you and everyone is always deceived, there is no other way.
@Ideservehappiness432 I understand your point of view. Most of the times, I even thought the same thing you did as well. But hope is something that could keep you to stay positive. Good things take its time to come. I know a dream will become meaningless if we have no hope for it but it's a small little thing that we could do to ourselves. Once a failure will never be a failure throughout his life. Everyone has their own flaws. And I'm sure everyone is trying their best to embrace the flaws and improve themselves. One more thing, there are people who cares about you whether you have realized about it or not. Love, support and empathy from others may be expressed in different ways. It's a subjective matter and there is no scale for it. If you feel like no one has ever given you all of those, try to notice little things they did to you. If they truly care about you, they will stay by your side and you will be comfortable around them. I know life is not permenant so life your live to the fullest. Do something that makes you happy and appreciate everything around you even though it's a bad thing. You'll feel some positivity within yourself.
People here are so pathetic, poor and miserable, as if other people have no problems. Just shut up and live on because your problems are worth nothing, the planet would be better off without all these soft whiners who can't accept the meaninglessness of life and try to close something void within themselves
Why are you even on 7cups?
