Can depression start suddenly?
I've had anxiety my whole life, but about a year or a year and a half ago I started getting symptoms of depression. Then, about 3 or 4 months ago, it got a lot worse and now it's really impacting every aspect of my life. It's very very hard to live with, and I was just wondering if it's abnormal for it to just start up like that or if I had to have been experiencing it for many years. Side note: I have not been officially diagnosed with depression, I've just had all of its symptoms.

Yes, depression can start out of the blue though it is a gradual process. It's good to identify it early like you have so you can see a doctor to get the right support. :) Depression is possible to beat! Good luck ♥
@ChristmasTreesInTheMoonlight
yeah I think so. Depression can happen to anyone, at any time.
@ChristmasTreesInTheMoonlight
But before you confirm to having it, see a doctor. theyre the only ones who can say for sure and get you help
@ChristmasTreesInTheMoonlight I think it can. Especially if you have gone through a recent major life event. A lot of the time with anxiety and depression, if you have one, you have the other as well. I would recommend seeing a doctor to see what treatment works best for you. Take care.
@heartfulHeart81 thank you. I've actually not gone through any major life event recently. I think the next time I could visit a doctor is February when I go for a yearly check up. Unless I get any worse, then maybe my therapist will make me see one or something. She diagnosed me with adjustment disorder (school being the trigger), but I don't think that's an accurate diagnosis in my opinion. I feel much worse than that
@ChristmasTreesInTheMoonlight Getting the diagnosis right can be a frustrating process. I hope you get everything worked out.
I had anxiety and depression for most of my life and it gradually became worse and affected me more and more.
Hi @ChristmasTreesInTheMoonlight I see depression as more of a something that happens gradually because I used to be a happy child before all of the bullying and torment from others. It really dragged me down, mentally and emotionally. I always try to look for the positive these days and I know I'm a nice person who doesn't need any validation from others. I hope this helps. Take care ❤
Yes, I wake up feeling like that or sometime during the day it comes over me and last a few days or weeks,
Depression can come out of no where any time and any day anywhere as well I've had anxiety and depression for 10 and half years already and its not east to control at times over these years I've learnt to keep my hands and mind busy while relaxing the body as well sometimes you may have the symptoms but don't actually have depression one way to know for sure is to see a doctor who can help you more than that social person it also depends on what your going through in life it could be stressful hard not going right or sometimes depressed at things in your life I have also got bipolar depression cause I've been through a very very torematic hard depressing hurtful life experience and the out come from that damaged insides and bipolar depression on top of what I already have getting mental health illness targeted early from your doctor and getting information and tests done it will help you later in life over time you'll know what your depression feels like what it wants you to do or not but after finding out early you can get support and information I never had it before I was scared when I got it at the age of 14 I'm 23 now almost 24 soon I didn't get information or support till later in life and after that over few years I know how to control it at times I show it whoz boss sometimes so please get in to see your doctor and get checked out ask him or her loads of questions and information and you also have this amazing site for help and support too good luck and all the best don't leave it till it's to late
