How has depression affected your sleep habit?
Depression can have serious and mild affects in our sleeping patterns or habit.
How has depression affected your sleep pattern or habit?
Will love to hear from you
I've had a period where I just wanted to avoid human contact as much as possible, so my sleep schedule basically reversed, waking most of the night and sleeping through most of the day, sometimes sleeping up to 12 hours at a time.
I slowly got out of that habit when I started therapy, but still had a lot of difficulty waking up, no matter how long I'd slept.
After a while of therapy I started antidepressants, and the one I'm on right now makes it so I hardly sleep. So I need to take an antipsychotic in combination with it. Now I usually sleep 6 to 7 hours a night and have less difficulty waking up
Now that it
Back when I was in like, 7th grade, as soon as I got home from school, I went to my room and crashed. Usually, my mom had to het me up. Ten, that same night, I would be up for several hours... That was a repeated cycle every time, up until I hit 9th grade... And I wasn't diagnosed with depression until January of 2018.
I pretty much do what "depression" allows me to do, I have periods when I can not sleep due to gloomy thoughts anf periods when I sleep for days just to sleep and not do anything...
Either I sleep 4-5 hours and am awake for 20-25 hours straight, or getting almost 14 hours of sleep still doesn't feel like enough and I'm groggy the whole time. I fell asleep at 3am, woke up at 8am, it's now 12:30 and I wanna sleep cause I'm tired, but I'm not tired enough. I have to literally start losing balance before I can actually sleep any, and even then I need some kind of background noise playing like gentle music or a waterfall during a thunderstorm.
I keep on sleeping whenever I don't have any work and when I wake up I feel heavy. I spend my day in bed...
When I'm dealing with a relapse into depression I stay up super late into the night doing meaningless stuff and then wake up so late that my sleep schedule is completely off, and the sleep is never high quality. But I stay in bed for hours falling in and out of that unsatisfying sleep.
@Evenstar8 - Boy that sounds familiar- up too late watching Netflix- then cant get out of bed in the morning. Am finally falling asleep with less mental chatter- and able to go back to sleep after waking up in the middle of the night. FINALLY.
I think I
@SailingFox I barely sleep and when I do I'm awake
@Oneminutesober127 that must be so awful :(
@SailingFox
Back then when i didnt have my melatonin pills, i used to not sleep until like 7 AM and then sleep from 7 AM To 1 PM. Because i was afraid of just lying in bed and having to think.
When depressed I either sleep alot or not at all with insomnia. Sigh.
Because your mind isn't in relaxing. You can sleep.when your mind in totally free.
