New to the Depression Community in October 2017? Say Hello here! And get to know others who joined in October too!
hi, i joined 7cups yesterday. looking for some kind of structure or community as i start working on fixing my crap... after friends told me that i've been like another person these last months, always so tired and distant that it seems like i don't care about them, i knew i needed to do something. even if those friendships end, they deserve - and i deserve - to do better.
right now it's hard to get out of my room, or be around them, because i don't want to drag anyone down with me. but there's things i know i can do, so i'll start there.
@tarotTrepidation welcome in here. Its good to know that you felt like "to do something" , you felt " to start now" ... trust me it is a huge step from your side , and i want to thank you that atlast you realised you need to care of yourself . All my good wishes for you .
Hi, I just recently joind because I know I needed to be surrounded by people who go through common life experiences. I am going to do my best to stay faithful and committed on this journey I am taking.
@optifr1979 I believe you will do great.
@optifr1979 welcome! i hope you feel welcomed and find the connections you are looking for
hi! i have actually been around in 7 cups since last year, but only joined the community in like a few mins ago. (: i like how people are non judgemental here and are willing to listen to you no matter what the background is. and hopefully i'll be able to find something to help cope with my condition. (:
@stringhyphenpuppet - Hi! I'm glad you've already been enjoying some of 7cups features. Joining the depression community enables you to receive notificatoins on featured depression community posts, and have easy access right from the Path page to depression resources. I love the compassion at 7cups and how willing everyone is to pool their clues together. I hope you find some new coping techniques too! Good luck and see you around maybe!
Hey there,
I joined 7cups last week during one of my most stressful times. I figured it was a good alternative to nothing as I have no time to find a therapist let alone a compatible one. I am always exhausted and I worry about seeming arrogant just because I don't talk a lot or hang out with people. I just find them draining and I have little to no energy as it is. I am on meds and I've upped my dosage since last week and making plans in case I fall behind in my coursework again. I like to be prepared even when everything feels impossible.
The only positive things I look forward to is visiting my nieces. They don't have any expectations of me besides just being there and showing them love and affection. They're content just watching Disney movies with me and showing me the toys they have. I try to remember that I'm in University to be a good role model for them and to be financially stable.
I am so glad you joined this beautiful community! We are all here to help and support you during this time of stress. Research shows that these days a lot of people suffer depression and that with the appropriate help they can overcome it!!! You can be part of these people. You are a fighter. I am so glad you are visiting your nieces and that it makes you happy! The best way to beat the depression is to do all those activities that make us happy! If you can think about other activities that make you feel better that would be great!!! Keep going miyo! It is a long way but it is possible! @miyomuskwa
Hi everyone, I'm posting here due to needing support after months of sadness and lack of motivation and my ability to care. Gf has just recently broken up with my after being home from uni and I'm currently only now grieving the death of my mum that happened in March. My sister recently was diagnosed with cervical cancer which, thank god has been dealt with effectively but she's still in a rough spot. My dad drinks to get through the nights, and so have I. Now with my gf breaking up with me I've not really got very many friends here where I live to see. I know I need to do something but I just don't know how.
@joTom - Hi joTom. You deserve to find support too! It sounds like you are grieving a lot of different kinds of losses and changes lately... my heart goes out to you. You've experienced a lot of stress and pain. Knowing we need to do something is the first step towards doing something, and this post was another step in that direction, a huge accomplishment. Feel free to message a listener 1-on-1 or try to make some new friends in our community! We're here for you. Share whatever you like to on your own terms. <3 Best of luck and see you around!
My name is Christina and 28 and suffer from a long list of things... lol want to keep this short but really interested in 7cups so far still new. So still learning. But learning something new everyday and it's great! I'm so happy I found 7cups. Depression has always been a huge issue for me besides everything else. I've been suffering from depression for 25 years. But have only been on medications for it for 11 years. Still haven't found a successful treatment yet. But working very hard to not let it kill me. Xoxo 💋
@ChristinaDawn - Hi Christina! Good to hear that you are enjoying your 7cups explorations! We can probably learn something new from you too! Feel free to share with us what you've learned so far in a forum thread! Finding treatment is exhausting, but every day we persist through this heaviness is a day worthy of celebration. You can do this! Looking forward to seeing you around. <3
Hi! I'm new, subscribed to 7cups a couple of days ago. Been depressed for quite a few years now, but only found out 3 years ago. I'm glad my wife pointed me to this website, because my depression is starting to put a serious strain on our relationship...
@JennyLolli - Welcome! Maybe you can find the support you need here. Many of us were also unaware of our depression or how it was impacting our lives for many years, you're not alone!
Hi my name is Ella, Im 38 and have been suffering on and off for the last 20 years. This last year or so has been particularly bad and I am trying to find ways to help pull myself out of this hole I am in. So hi everyone
@elladee - Hi ella. That's as good a reason as any to be here. So great to see that you are looking for new ways to cope with this heavy thing, Keep going! You can do this!
Hi, I joined up again last night, I tried the app before but now I'm really trying to do something about my mental health. My listener suggested talking to my family doctor to start, so that's my plan for today.
@charmingPomegranate8798 - Welcome back! There are a lot of resources here to explore. Listeners can be a good way to explore options we didn't think of before. Good luck!
Hi all, I joined 7 cups the other night. Father of 2 boys which are the only reason I'm still here. I've been in the battle of my life for almost 4 months with depression and anxiety. I lost my job and everything went straight down. I've been seeing a physcologist, spent 5 days in the hospital, but I'm so bloody discouraged because I don't feel like I'm progressing. Still want to stay in bed all day. I can't handle it anymore. My boys need a father.
@Sufferingdad
Hi, I'm so glad you joined 7cups. Your situation sounds horrible, but I promise you: it will get better. I used to feel like dying was the only thing that made sense, but last weekend was the best weekend I've had in 5 years or so. So it does get better.
How old are your sons, if you don't mind me asking? (If you do, feel free to ignore the question.
)
Your sons definitely need you, but we are also very glad you're here and want you to keep coming back!
A hug for now,
Jenny
