What Is CRPS?

"Complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) is a chronic pain condition most often affecting one of the limbs (arms, legs, hands, or feet), usually after an injury or trauma to that limb. CRPS is believed to be caused by damage to, or malfunction of, the peripheral and central nervous systems. The central nervous system is composed of the brain and spinal cord, and the peripheral nervous system involves nerve signaling from the brain and spinal cord to the rest of the body. CRPS is characterized by prolonged or excessive pain and mild or dramatic changes in skin color, temperature, and/or swelling in the affected area.

There are two similar forms, called CRPS-I and CRPS-II, with the same symptoms and treatments. CRPS-II (previously called causalgia) is the term used for patients with confirmed nerve injuries. Individuals without confirmed nerve injury are classified as having CRPS-I (previously called reflex sympathetic dystrophy syndrome). Some research has identified evidence of nerve injury in CRPS-I, so the validity of the two different forms is being investigated.

CRPS symptoms vary in severity and duration. Studies of the incidence and prevalence of the disease show that most cases are mild and individuals recover gradually with time. In more severe cases, individuals may not recover and may have long-term disability." The above link will give more on causes, who can get it, and possible treatments..

I also have this syndrome from having surgery for breast cancer, having chemotherapy and going through radiation. Thank you for posting this. I went to many doctors that had no idea what this was and after doing research I found that my symptoms are exactly like those described.

Thanks. ❤️ Good share, can help other!

(Such helped me, when didn't know much about...)

Got at a young age, very bad handball match going wrong. (Arm stretched to far back and bleeding collected in shoulder)

Doc didn't listen, hard get another and when got to at good one, little chance get better.

(Big bad bleeding in shoulder, doc could have helped with, killed rest of nerves slowly, according to another specialist.)

Crps type 2. Bad case, beacouse what gone trough.

Unluckily got sent later to another, were ended up with wrong treatmeant.

Became a bad nightmare

Not gotten ride of and likely won't ever. Did tough beat odds, unormal case, able use arm and leg, to some degree. (Did end up in wheel chair and arm was close to not at all savable, after wrong program.)

While training to save exsample ar and yet loseing arm slowly, thansk to bleeding. Was told stop contioue, pain my self with training, beacouse had gotten to weak, was not possible to save. (Did what they saw impossbile. But arm has some weakenses tough. What I was able to save, was pretty much, in last minute. Also getting out if sheel chair again.)

Did get SCS/Spinal Cord Stimulator at one time, witched helped me unbelievable much. (But I don't have at moment unluckily...)

But dealing with some extra now, in way new, dealt with some years.

Doctors again, slow and some other such, so got to a very bad point health wise.

See in way, same errors to see and stupid...(Frusrating!)

Came to a couldn't exsample talk well, blood pressure 186/156 rest puls about 130 or 140. Walked with exsample Potassium about 1,3-1,7 4 years, at best 2,7. (Should have 4,5+ potassium)

Exsmaple Doctors don't know much about Crps, makes some scared in way to take me, some just point t that I am liveing with Crps maybe...

Feel always fighting....

Been at long, struggle. Got young, I my teens and I am in my 30's now. (Times have varited much, sometimes better then other, but mostly always been something, in some way. Doc have been pretty much *** most and often make it rougher, then had to be...)

Was not easy task, save arm or leg,. Get out wheel chair. Etc. Took long time and much learng and more, to get better. Not perfect know well, but keep trying. Count less, times lost, frustrated and more, had try pull my self out off.

Did also try for my family. At times more for them, then my self, when felt low... (Extra motivation, to keep going also...)

Didn't like the "oh poor girl, she has no hope and won't ever be able to..." pitty eyes. Specially not when trying have good time. So tried find ways, so less notice able, how damaged really I am, wanted look, closer to normal...

Done everything I can, to learn different things, can help. (Some exsmaples. Trainings, Vitamins, Info about Crps.) May keep trying, go a lot things, so can learn and adapt.

Best, if can maybe handle it my self, some way or find some way. (Even if just small difference, still a step forward.)

When seems, I am not able find some way or make difference, push harder with my search some and may go extra to doctors. (Even tough, often have teach them, much info about, beacouse limited knowlage about. There's still some things doctors able to, you not, so...)

{ My personal opinion... Who will work most for your health, it's your self, if you trying... You care most about and you decide, how exactly put in... In way, easier give up, then keep pushing forword, much think about... }

Shared a lot of learned, tried help others, if may been able to.

Always been happy, if can maybe help others...

Read a lot and big music lover. Also love nature. Train every day, but balance out trough days off the weak and addapt training and balance not too much or too little, depending on my body.

Know estimated, been way better off, if I wouldn't have gone trough all I have, exsample wrong treatmeant, late help and etc. but can always try, after all, my life it hita, if I don't. Know well how bad odds/chance have, but same time, been able suprise many, more then once and able some things, more then one said, would not be possible. Like sometimes try new things. ( idk care of may need tó, so it in different way, then normally other do it or íf may look different. Most important enjoying.)

So in other words, keep trying, with trying!

Know what happens, if one does nothing...

but if one is trying, there is a chance, things may change...

Can take time, before see changed well. (Yeah, one needs also patiance...)

Good and helps much, if one easily happy, about all small good things. Also good, try focous on good, not bad. (Try learn fight negative...)

If can't do something the normal, then I will do how ever I can and always try find a way, can handle things my self, as much as possible
