Weekly Check In May 7 - 13
How are you all doing this week?
Stop on in as you need share you triumps and your frustrations.
It's been a busy week for me! Just lots of different things going on and trying to stay on top of it while making sure I get rest. Also been busy in the garden. What a hot weekend compared to what we have had for quite a while! Got quite a few seeds planted with many more to go!
@AffyAvo awesome affy hope the rest is helping
@CaringBrit Was forced to rest today. Some symptoms can be fought through, some cannot. Frustrating as I don't even know the cause and it's been too frequent lately :(
@AffyAvo that can certainly be really annoying not knowing the cause especially with it being really frequent affy hope you can find some answers asap
@AffyAvo make sure you get your rest! thats very important!
it was a busy weekend for me i got my apartment all clean after my roommates moved out. hopefully this week isn't too stressful
@caringShoulder14 aww hope you get some relaxation done caring :) after that busy weekend
Symptoms are up and down. Pleased at the state of my garden right now considering, plus it's pretty early in the early in the year. Not doing so great with my indoor starts though.
I've just started wearing a fitbit. WIth the fatigue doctors constantly ask me about my quality of sleep, I feel like it's actually quite good most of the time - way better than before I felt so sick. I used to be a horrible sleeper - often waking up, not getting much at all, etc. WIth being so exhausted now though I needd it and tend to get way more as long as GI issues, swells and swell monitoring doesn't get in the way of sleep. While it's certainly not diagnostic I think my fitbit does verify what I thought - I get good sections of non-restless sleep. Sleep apnea has been asked about before and this adds to the 'not likely'. I snore sometimes but that tends to be swell and allergy based. With allergies taking an extra antihistamine actually does reduce my snoring and I would think I had typical apnea it would actually increase that. My husband also confirms that I don't do the typical gasping or anything like that. So I got useful information out of it.
That's not actually why I'm wearing it though - I want to see how data from the fitbit matches with when I feel particularly horrible, what happens after exercise, particularly when I allow a bit higher intensity and go back to those sick feeling periods afterwards, etc.
I wish it were possible to get more data consistently - like I find the long periods when I feel unwell and have had a CBC done my WBC are either high or within normal range but on the high side within normal. I feel like having that kind of information helps more. Doctors don't take non-visible symptoms as seriously as they should. It's really hard to get across just how sick I am. I've had a lifetime of fairly regular medical-emergency throat attacks which were seen as no big deal and I didn't feel so seriously chronically ill throughout my life, so considering how much my symptoms were brushed aside then (and more than just the sore throats) it's really difficult for me to explain how much worse I feel now and have that taken seriously, especially when no one knows what to do with the information that is known. Even my 'good' days now I'm still quite ill comparatively.
@AffyAvo sorry to hea about the up and down symptoms Affy must be frustrating eh? but yayyyy on the garden any pics would love to see :) thats pretty good the fitbit has been helping in some of the things youve mentioned affy would you recommend them? as ive thought about getting one . all great reasons to wear one affy
@CaringBrit For the fitbits I would say it really depends on what you want to use it for. They are not meant to be used as a medical device and I know there are issues with accuracy. I think it's useful for trends though and to help get more info on things where it's not the only tool being used. This was a free one to me given by a family member. My husband was actually wearing it on and off and now he misses it so he's ordering a new one as there's a sale right now.
@AffyAvo what are they usually used for not familiar with them
@CaringBrit To encourage being active and are more related to fitness than managing illness well (hence the 'fit' in the title). They count steps, encourage one to reach # of step goals, you can track water intake, food, log exercise, weight loss etc. There are different models, some are much more expensive and also measure things like oxygen saturation.
@AffyAvo i wear my fitbit mainly to track my sleep. i always wake up so unrested and was hoping it would help show me something but didnt really do much
@caringShoulder14 i would go to doctors about that caring
Very good! Just finishing up taking care of gran!
