@AffyAvo
Yes, I am employed an an autistic.
The one thing that I would like to see change is communication. I see a lot of employers:
1. Become too harsh and critical if we don't meet their expectations
2. They often use passive aggression instead of being direct
@AffyAvo
Do you currently have a job?
- I don't. I'm in a work re-integration program that tries to get me into a fitting workplace. But so far I haven't been able to stay in any of them. Even though it's only very simple tasks, only very few hours, and the workplaces are disability integrational workplaces.
What is 1 thing you would change in a workplace that would make it easier for some disabled people to work there?
- Personalized accomodations. Bosses and co-workers always think it's enough to give disabled people more time and provide a ramp for their building. But accomodations are endlessly diverse, just like disabled people are. You can't know what kind of accomodations your disabled worker needs unless you ask them and listen to what they're telling you.
- Not doing very well, to be honest. It's worrying me endlessly that I can't hold down any job. If people lose patience with me, I won't be able to afford to live.
@AffyAvo
Here is another thing that I would change, see a law passed where employers are required to get training and have accommodations. It really should be a law in my country
