ABC's of Disabilities
Hey everyone! So for today's challenge, we will have an ABC thread! Similar to my feed post yesterday, we will all be respoding with a disability with a description, as well as a reliable reference for credibility. However, we will go in alphabetical order! I'll go first 
Athabaskan brainstem dysgenesis: a very rare syndrome described in about 13 Athabaskan Native Americans. The signs and symptoms include inability to move the eyeballs to the sides (horizontal gaze paralysis), deafness, and breathing and swallowing difficulty due to central hypoventilation (a condition where the affected people take shallow breaths (hypoventilate), especially during sleep). All of the the children described so far have had developmental delay and some had seizures, lack of facial movements, heart problems and vocal cord paralysis. ABDS and another condition, known as Bosley-Salih-Alorainy Syndrome (BSAS), are caused by mutations in the HOXA1 gene, but only ABDS has central hypoventilation. Treatment includes supplemental oxygen or mechanical ventilation.

To be completely honest, I have never heard of that disability before! So, I have learned something new I challenge you to make a reply of a disability you've never heard of before, either, so you can learn something new as well!

B - Borderline Personality Disorder
Borderline personality disorder (BPD) is a disorder of mood and how a person interacts with others. It's the most commonly recognised personality disorder. The symptoms of BPD can be grouped into four main areas:
emotional instability – the psychological term for this is "affective dysregulation"
disturbed patterns of thinking or perception – ("cognitive distortions" or "perceptual distortions")
impulsive behaviour
intense but unstable relationships with others
The symptoms of a personality disorder may range from mild to severe and usually emerge in adolescence, persisting into adulthood.
The causes of BPD are unclear. However, as with most conditions, BPD appears to result from a combination of genetic and environmental factors.
Many people with BPD can benefit from psychological or medical treatment.

C - Crohns Disease
Crohns disease is an inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and these conditions are different than irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). It causes inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract, and it can affect mouth to anus, although the ileum and colon tend to be the areas most commonly affected. Diarrhea is one of the symptoms, and it can lead to malnutrition due to improper nutrient absorption. There are multiple medications that can help control this condition.
Dysautonomia
Dysautonomia is an umbrella term used to describe several different medical conditions that cause a malfunction of the Autonomic Nervous System. It's not rare! Over 70 million people worldwide live with various forms of dysautonomia. People of any age, gender or race can be impacted. There is no cure for any form of dysautonomia at this time. Three forms include: Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), Neurocardiogenic Syncope (NCS), Multiple System Atrophy (MSA). It can also form secondary to diabetes, multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, celiac, Sjogren's syndrome, lupus, and Parkinson's
