Are you sleeping well lately?

Hello everyone! Sleeping well is necessary both for mind and body, it helps us in having a good energy level and it helps our mood too.

* Are you sleeping well lately?

* What do you think troubles you most in not having a good sleep?

* Is your rest of quality or do you wake up still tired?

* Do you have any trick to help you sleeping well?

* Are you able to avoid annoying thoughts and relax your mind to allow a good sleep?

While looking forward to exchange opinions on that topic, i wish you all a good rest and sweet dreams for the next time you'll go sleeping!

Healthy sleep habits can make a big difference in your quality of life. Having healthy sleep habits is often referred to as having good good sleep hygiene, Try to keep the following sleep practices on a consistent basis:

1. Stick to a sleep schedule of the same bedtime and wake up time, even on the weekends. This helps to regulate your body's clock and could help you fall asleep and stay asleep for the night.

2. Practice a relaxing bedtime ritual. A relaxing, routine activity right before bedtime conducted away from bright lights helps separate your sleep time from activities that can cause excitement, stress or anxiety which can make it more difficult to fall asleep, get sound and deep sleep or remain asleep.

3. If you have trouble sleeping, avoid naps, especially in the afternoon. Power napping may help you get through the day, but if you find that you can't fall asleep at bedtime, eliminating even short catnaps may help.

4. Exercise daily. Vigorous exercise is best, but even light exercise is better than no activity. Exercise at any time of day, but not at the expense of your sleep.

5. Evaluate your room. Design your sleep environment to establish the conditions you need for sleep. Your bedroom should be cool – between 60 and 67 F. degrees. Your bedroom should also be free from any noise that can disturb your sleep. Finally, your bedroom should be free from any light. Check your room for noises or other distractions. This includes a bed partner's sleep disruptions such as snoring. Consider using blackout curtains, eye shades, ear plugs, "white noise" machines, humidifiers, fans and other devices.

6.Sleep on a comfortable mattress and pillows. Make sure your mattress is comfortable and supportive. The one you have been using for years may have exceeded its life expectancy – about 9 or 10 years for most good quality mattresses. Have comfortable pillows and make the room attractive and inviting for sleep but also free of allergens that might affect you and objects that might cause you to slip or fall if you have to get up.

I find that I do sleep quite well but even after a 10 hour sleep I can still be really tired.

My tip for getting to sleep would be to try to avoid thinking about stressful things or things that make you anxious, focus on relaxing things (like the idea of counting sheep) so your mind can relax too. This is just what works for me, it might be different for others smiley

@BeyondTheInvisible I think your tips would be very helpful, nice thread!

I used to not sleep well at all. Now I constantly feel tired, but I do think I actually sleep much better.

I find some of these suggestions to not be helpful. I've tried doing the schedule thing, but I've found it's just way more important to get the sleep in. How does one keep the same schedule and still participate in activities when needing 12 hours of sleep? Some days I might need to be up at 6 am to get to an appointment, and there is no way I am going to give up on all evening activities for my life. The same goes with long naps. So what if I go to bed late? I have found I am just more likely to be really sleep deprived if I do not nap, as skipping out on a nap doesn't always equate to getting more sleep at night, and even if I do, skipping out on a 3 hour nap might mean an extra hour of sleep at night, I would rather take that 3 hour nap when my body needs it instead of feeling horribly sick.

As for the exercise? That would make me really sick.

@AffyAvo

Hello there, the above mentioned tips come from National Sleep Foundation, as i mentioned in the thread, so they are tracked to suggest how to have a good sleep at night.

The questions i asked are to let people share their own experience in sleeping well or their dfficulties in having a good sleep, that's the meaning of it.

Exchaning opinions is always positive and sharing them is a way to feel we are communicating as community.

So thanks for sharing your experience laugh

Glad to hear that basically you sleep well, even if your energy level is not always high during the day.

I hope that can be fixed soon!

Usually get a solid 5 to 6 hours a night, occasionally I don't.. When I don't it usually is because I seem to forget to put my phone on the floor where it can't viberate my entire bed when someone sends me a message, which is like getting hit with a lightening bolt in my sleep.

Hi @DaveMcGrath !

Seems like when you sleep, your sleeping hours are of quality. That's good.

I hope you'll find a way to fix the issue with the phone cheeky

Take care!

Lol, it's a matter of remembering to power the blasted thing off, which comes down to being the same as remembering to just put it on the floor.

@DaveMcGrath

Oh i understand!

Well, you can try different ways to remember that....

What about writing a small note in the morning to leave on your pillow so when you'll go to bed you will remember about it? Or maybe a reminder on the phone that will pop up at the right time?

Lately I often have troubles falling asleep. But it's okay, because I still get enough sleep. And my cat takes care of me. Whenever I think that I'm never going to fall asleep, she lies down next to me and starts purring, until I'm asleep.

I sleep very well. Sleep is actually something I almost never have trouble with even if I'm at my worst. I suppose it's some way to finally escape from life for a moment, which sometimes causes me to sleep too much, which can also be bad :/
However I do have these days where I simply can't fall asleep. What I do then is simply make up a story in my head, you could put yourself in it or not. Most of the times I do, but not everytime. And I just make up a nice story, one I'd enjoy reading, until I fall asleep. It really helps me. Hopefully it can help one of you guys too!

I have a bed time ritual, go to bet about the same time each night, and usually don't have too much of an issue falling asleep.

My issue is that for the past month I've been having severe nightmares... I wake up multiple times during the night and I don't feel rested during the day.

@BeyondTheInvisible I am sleeping alright, sometimes I get my sleep sometimes I don't.

Things that keep me from getting good sleep sometimes are thoughts, having a lot to do in my day, overwhelmed, long days, too much caffine, physical pain etc...

A little bit of both.

No

No not always.
