Epilepsy Struggles
As of 2024 I have been diagnosed with Epilepsy, it’s hard to get jobs due to not being able to drive unless I am seizure free for 6 months to a year. Financially I am struggling. Being 20 and still living with my parents feels trapping however living on my own would be dangerous. My most recent seizure last month was grand mal and I was foaming at the mouth. My job at the time (Mcdonalds) had to call an ambulance. I am unsure if I will have to foot the bill and I’m stressing with 150$ left over in my account. I had a nasal spray that stops seizures however they called an ambulance instead of using it. I feel useless without a job and I feel like I’m not contributing enough at home. I try.

@Saftey578 Hello, thank you for sharing your difficulties for us to read, I know that we have other people here with epilepsy so hopefully they will reply with some helpful tips. But, you are doing good, you have taken the very brave step of posting here and sharing with us, and I know that can't have been easy. It takes a lot of guts to post sometimes and I can feel the strain that you are under.

I was diagnosed with epilepsy at 6 months old my diagnosis has changed 3 times over the years. My present one is primary generalized seizures. Epilepsy has caused me to have many issues such as balances which is due to a seizure med taken as a child which doctors say regardless of how long you been off it the side effect is balanced. I also had lots of issues while being in school due to staring spells and dining out and many memory issues jobs are difficult due to certain jibs I’m not able to be around machinery i can’t cook unless someone is present.
