Medical Insurance for Disability

I'm trying to get information on getting insurance for disability in the US. I don't know what to do. Social Security won't cover me. I have type 1 Bipolar Disorder, and I have had extreme cycling episodes every year, ranging from mania to depression to anxiety and paranoia, and psychosis. Does anyone have information on the process?

I won't be having a job this year or next year until I graduate from my university. (I have had on and off jobs my previous years).

@tealBear2472 I have epilepsy, but I work and make too much money so Soc Sec won't cover me either. They're so corrupt. It's a joke really. What you do is look at the private insurance companies. Obama was a goof, but his Afforable Care Act was justified. There are private insurance companies that will cover you. I have to pay almost $100/mo and some $ out of pocket, but I have had decent coverage so far this year. It's pathetic right? Just go on healthcare.gov

I have never lived in the US. I do know from patient groups that PSI has helped some in the past with large costs, but I don't know the details, criteria or even if it's still available.
