Teen and Adult Mixer - Join the Party!

Hey everyone! Lately, I've noticed there isn't much communication between the teens and adults on the Disability Support Team, and I'd like that to change! Although the discussion teams are separate since there are separate rooms with separate team leaders (@vivelespatates and @kindSoul10 for adults; me for the teens), it's still important to remember that we're all in the same team together, and we're here to support one another, regardless of our age. Since many of the teens and adults on the team haven't interacted with each other and not everyone has dual access, I'd like to have a bit of challenge so we can all get to know each other!

☆ If you're a teen, follow an adult's feed

☆ If you're an adult, follow a teen's feed

Also, tag the person who you've followed in a reply below, and then ask them some basic questions to get to know their awesome personality and their involvement with this team smiley Challenge starts now!

@kindSoul10 Hello laugh Sorry it took me a while to reply - my laptops been playing up :( Thanks for the questions cheeky

1) Do you have hobbies?

oooh I used to love to sing but I stopped about 3 years ago and now rarely sing aha - I like going out with my friends and just being around them as they make me happy laugh I also like to write - I have been writing books (they aren't great aha!) since I was 12 and I have been publishing them online, they have quite a big following and it is amazing for me to get feedback on my work. That is something I have been passionate about and now I am 18 - its unreal how fast time goes and how dedicated you can be to something you love :D Do you have any hobbies? surprise

What is a quote you like to share .?

Somebody shared this quote with me a while back and I love it - I think its so important to look for the positives - sometimes a situation can be bad but it won't be bad forever we just need to look to the future laugh

Do you like animals? Do you have a favorite animal?

I love animals laugh My favourite animal is a rabbit or a dog. I have been begging my parents for years to get a dog but they keep putting it off so maybe sometime soon. Do you have any pets? Whats your favourite animal? cheeky

What is your message to the adult listeners?

You are doing a great job laughI am glad that we get to speak more because I feel like there shouldn't be a divide between adult/teen listeners. We are all on the same team, trying to get to the same goal laugh Do you have anything you would like to say to teens? surprise

What is one thing adults tend to forget?

oooh in general, that teens still have problems that are relative to them at the time. They may not be as big as adult problems but the feel just as big if not bigger to teens at that time. Having turned an adult listener a month ago, I understand the perspectives of teens quite well and for me I understand that when I connect with a member a conversation with a teen is going to be much different than a conversation with an adult due to the emotions they feel at that time. But all are just as important as eachother laughWhat do you feel teens forget?

Ahhh this mixer is great! I look forward to getting to know more about everybody in the team cheeky I hope everybody is having a good weekend!

@emsworld

Hi Emma! Yay, nice to meet you!

Oh you have so cool hobbies. Singing can be so much fun! :D
I'm shy so I sing silently when people are around, but I'm not a singer really LOL.

Friends can be so precious, I'm glad you found friends that makes you feel happy.

I liked writing too, I feel like I just don't have much time and/or I'm too tired after writing so many emails or chatting. I just like to do something else then.

I scribble silly faces, listen to music or play games.

Time flies so fast. Yesterday in a session the question was raised "how old is old?" - I guess we all wasn't sure to have the right answer. I think, the older we get,our definition of old changes. :D I guess I'm still childish LOL. I would embarrass my 5 year old me if I would hang out with myself LOL. "stahp, you're too old to be like this", I hear myself saying. LOL.
I used to nom Jaydens (my Twinnie) homework LOL.

I like your quote. It's really deep. I'm most often a positive thinker. Sometimes I'm just down but that's life (how I perceive it).

I like animals very much. (spiders I don't, -eek-). I like horses, cats, dogs... But honestly I'm more a cat person :D . I don't have a pet anymore, I had a cat. I still miss her.

And awww thank you Emma. It was nice what you said.
We all are a team and I know teens make a great job too. We are so proud you're part of the community and support your peers. ❤
We have an invisible wall for safety reasons but we all are working together for the same goal to support members and making 7cups a safe place.

I can relate to your reminder that problems are relative in size and when you are an adult they might look small but at that age they're not that small at all. It's a great reminder. Thank you.
Fun fact: I once had a nightmare: I visited my school as an adult and my principal told me I have to repeat school since they lost all my files. D:

What do I feel teens forget... Hmm... That adults often try hard to hide their inner child. We have been teens too once and some things change (school, culture) but to some things we can relate. Sometimes it might be worth talking to adults too, there are things we can relate to and be helpful.

Thanks for sharing, Emma! I'm looking forward to have more conversations and teamwork. ❤

Being a adult is awesome! Nothing changed really to be honest.

How is it to host adult discussions? Is there a difference to teens discussion?

Hosting teen discussions were okay they were mostly not a lot of people in there. But hosting Adults discussions is alot better and really supportibe in there. My favorite discussio that everyone loved was Klippel-Feil Syndrome (My syndrome).

@Emily619

@AffyAvo

Plans for this spring: Hmm.... I don't have anything very special, it's mostly preparation for final exams in May and June, yay... But I'm too going to participate in a school related competition, which means I'm going to visit Copenhagen again, capital in my country.

Talent: I wish I was good at gymnastics, I really do! Gymnasts are so good and impressing and I wish I could do something similar... But nope, I suck at such hah

Favorite color: I don't have any that's 100% my favorite but I really love navy blue!

Favorite activity: well, basically anything that involves sports (except gymnastics hah). I loooove roller blading so that's maybe my favorite, but running, playing soccer and volleyball, kayaking etc etc are great too

Treats: sweet, no doubt!
