What are your plans for Disability Pride Month this year?
Are you planning on doing anything?
Is there anything in your area?
Disability Pride Month isn't completely ignored where I am but there aren't exactly events from what I've seen. There's an inclusive concert with a focus on disabled artists I might check out - in September. I think the only connection to disabilty pride month is to use it to help advertise. Otherwise I'm uncertain for my plans, but I guess this post is a start!
@AffyAvo
Alot of events are planned here which is great to see 💜🤗

@Amanda84 In Ireland?
I didn't realize Disability Pride had migrated overseas much so far. That's great to hear! What types of events are happening?
@AffyAvo
There are events, but we don’t get out much.
I thought I would post this Disability Pride Flag, with an explanation of the colors, designed by Ann Magill.

@CalmRosebud
Thank you, that's beautiful and it's great to have the explanation too 🥰
@Amanda84
The original flag had a zig zag path to signify the path we have had to take to overcome obstacles. Also, the colors were brighter, but the flag color was modified because of feedback that the bright colors were too harsh for some people. That’s why the colors are more muted on the flag posted here, and the diagonal is one zig of the zag, if that makes sense.
It’s something I wish people here could consider when they have the gyrating or moving profile pics, which can trigger seizures in some people.
@CalmRosebud
What a great perspective and re moving GIFs too, I appreciate hearing this from a lived experience, thank you 💛🤗
@CalmRosebud Love how it's labelled on the flag.
For those who can't read it on the image, I've posted about the flag before here https://www.7cups.com/forum/disabilities/CommunitySpace_227/DisabilityPrideFlagHowdoyourelate_281934/
@AffyAvo
Thank you 😊
