Disability, Depression, and Physical Exercise
I've got disabling back problems that keep me from doing any other exercise except walking, but on bad days I can't even do that. My physical health problems exacerbate my depression and every attempt I to make clear and serious decisions results in sobbing fits that eventually cause me to vomit. I am in therapy and on medication, but it's not working fast enough despite my commitment to doing the assignments. I've searched all over the net trying to find solutions for my depression to supplement the meds I take and the therapy but they all involve exercise, which as I said, isn't physically possible.
Does anyone know of a list of non physical coping methods for depression designed for the disabled?
Have you tried swimming or floating in water?:)
A good idea, @peacefulSoul8, but not possible.
I live in a part of the world where it's freezing cold 3/4 of the year, so the public outdoor pools are only open July through August and are badly supervised, making them unsafe. There are no free indoor pools and my disability cost me my job (my employers conveniently fired me right before the end of the probation period, making a lawsuit impossible), making access to an indoor pool an unaffordable luxury .
