Having problems with activities of daily living?
I washed my hair the other day and felt so weak afterwards I was flat on my back in bed the rest of the day
. It can be frustrating having difficulty or not being able to do things for yourself. How do other people here cope with this?
I struggle too. I try to pace myself and my husband helps but it's still really difficult at times.
@AffyAvo That's true even with pacing it is difficult at times.
Your response gave me an idea ,I may need to ask my partner for more help
.Thank you.
@adventurousBranch3786 is it possible to get a caregiver or personal assistance there? Can it be covered by government there?
@CheerySandi I don't know how much government services there are. I bought a robot to clean the floor and I am going to look for someone for helping to clean the house. We also have delivery services for groceries but my partner usually does that.

I am electric wheelchair user and i have got a caregiver who helps me doing daily living tasks which need muscle strength, hand dexterity, use of legs or physical energy. I also struggle with demands of my job too (my co workers do much more in set amount of time than me). My caregiver helps me by transferring from bed to electric wheelchair, transferring from electric wheelchair to toilet or bath tub (and showering), cleaning, cooking, bringing groceries home, getting groceries from high shelves, etc. My caregiver helps me when i spend time in the bed in order to get needed rest. My doctor told me that i mustn't overexert and that i need plenty of rest.
@CheerySandi That is great that you have the caregiver. I hear you about work it takes an awful lot of energy for someone with less spoons. I am able to wash myself if I break it down into smaller parts (If I do it all at once I'll spend a day or two in bed). I have found a way to wash my hair that has been easier for me since my original post. Thanks for your replies I might need to look into getting some more help with some things. Do you live by yourself? (Answer only if you don't mind).

1. Having problems with activities of daily living?
Oh yes. With a fused right ankle and compression fractures in the lower back and advancing age come a host of problems I didn't have to deal with when younger. Now I have given up lace shoes for velcro ones for work and home. Also, I can no longer bend over to retrieve things at lower than hand level. So getting what I need whether at home or work requires some help now. Also I can no longer stand in a shower to bathe. I now have to sit in a bath chair. Getting out of a tub shower is now a rather frightening prospect as I worry that I may fall. Having no balance with a fused foot is not something I realized would become a problem as I got older. xandia❤️
