Struggling with Disability: The Frustration of Empty Promises and Lost Opportunities

I'm feeling really sad and frustrated, and I'm not sure where to turn. People keep saying they're here to help me, but when it comes to concrete assistance, there seems to be no one around.

As a person with a mental disability, I am working on a project that requires precise information and crucial steps that are only attainable with the assistance of specific individuals. I've been trying to contact them since Monday, which is very challenging for me, but I haven't received any response or help despite multiple attempts in various ways. Time is passing, and my chances of achieving my goal are diminishing.

It's so difficult to accept all of this. If it weren't for my health problems, everything would be simple, and everything would be resolved. Knowing that I might lose my place because of my disability is deeply frustrating. It's so hard not to lose hope.

It's Friday evening, and the week is already over. I wanted to start the necessary procedures this week, but it's too late now. I dream of a life where I have control over what I do and where I don't depend on everyone.

It's tough to face the reality that my disability affects my opportunities to move forward, but it's even more challenging when people don't follow through on their commitments to help. I understand that everyone has their own priorities and responsibilities, but it feels like I'm always at the bottom of the list.

Thank you for listening to me pour out my feelings. It's nice to have a space where I can express myself honestly without judgment.

I hear you, overall it is frustrating to lose out on opportunities.

In this instance it sounds especially hart to accept as this project could have been successful if you had the support from others. I hope you can find people who prioritize you more!

Butterfly I hope things improved for you. I was interested in the title about being let down, and promises for help not happening. I keep waiting for a trip but so far I am stuck inside, let down again.

The thing about disabilities is none of us asked for them. The universe cut us a tough break. It's out of our control. it's natural to wish for a "normal" life w/o disability and its attendant loss. but we are stuck in the bodies we have.

I think the most important thing is to have compassion for ourselves. Of course we wish we were healthy and active like others. But life will change for them. Disability is a preview of the losses everyone experiences when they age.
