My face may be different

But my feelings the same

I laugh and I cry

And I take pride in my gains

I was sent here among you

To teach you to love

As God in the heavens

Looks down from above

To Him I am no different

His love knows no bounds

It's those here among you

In cities and towns

That judge me by standards

That man has imparted

But this family I've chosen

Will help me get started

For I'm one of the children

So special and few

That came here to learn

The same lessons as you

That love is acceptance

It comes from the heart

We all have the same purpose

Though not from the start

The Lord gave me life

To live and embrace

And I'll do it as you do

But at my own pace

Thank you for sharing 🩵💚💜💕🧡💖💛🩷

What a beautiful poem.

That brought tears to my eyes.

They are different but never less!

That's important 😊

Such beautiful words 🥰

My daughter has DS and is the most loving humans I know.

I had this up on my office wall and in my locker.

@QuietByNature I was taught by my Mom to love everyone for who they are and to remember that everyone has something to offer to this world and they are capable and more than excepting of love.

She had a sister born with part of her brain missing who had special needs. I never heard my Mom speak anyway of her other than kind words and about how much she loved her. Sadly, her sister passed away at 13. My Mom kept her memory alive by teaching me to be kind to everyone no matter our differences.
