1) Do you deal with migraines and if so, how has this month been for you?

I have chronic migraines, but August has been treating me well. Summer tends to be when I get migraines the least as my triggers are mostly stress, lighting, smells, and chocolate :( Bracing myself for fall which welcomes more stressors and work.

2) What were some ups and downs you experienced in the month of August?

Up: All of my medical school applications are in!

Down: Fell of my bike and have some pretty gnarly cuts and scrapes.

1) Do you deal with migraines and if so, how has this month been for you?

I do suffer with Migraines. I am not 100% sure how long I remember more so getting them at least more frequently when I became pregnant with my son back in 2007. They have gotten worse & more frequent the old I have gotten. However, since I got the Daith piercing back in Feb of this year they have become less frequent but I do still get them. In fact I left work early today (which luckily doesn't happen too often) because I had one yesterday that didn't go away, it was dull this morning but as the morning progressed on it just got worse. Luckily I work for a Doctors office so they completely understand & see that I try my hardest but know my limits that I can push myself to. It helps living about 10 minutes away from work too because I can push myself pretty far before saying I have to go home. So overall, all things considered this month has not been too bad. I used to get them at least once a day.

2) What were some ups and downs you experienced in the month of August?

Some of the ups I have experienced is that I am not getting them as frequently & usually if I catch it quick enough & can lay down w/ ice or heat for a little bit it will go away, or if towards the end of the day I will smoke some marijuana & fall asleep & wake up with it gone. Peppermint oil & lavendar seems to help sometimes too. However this one that I got yesterday into today was a bad one, it was tough to get rid of. I feel a little better now but it is still lingering around. Hoping it will be completely gone tomorrow.

@neatBlueberry3608 Question: you said the Daith piercing helps, but not 100% of the time. In light of your experience, would you say it's worth getting?

@Whisper292 Yes! In my opinion it is worth getting. It takes about a yr to heal & then I can go back to have them put a hoop in. Once I get that switched out I have already made the decision of getting my other ear done. The guy who did mine said as long as you not have a back or neck injury it should help, not cure but help. It has helped for the most part, I still get them but nearly as often as I used to. He also said to get it on the side that you get the migraines mostly, for me it is kind of 50/50 so that is why I plan on eventually getting the other side done. It hurts, not going to sugar coat it, I mean they are pushing out a whole piece of cartilage, but I think it was worth it. Worst come to worse you have a cool looking piercing, or just you just take it out once healed & let it close up, which will probably take a while so probably just best to keep the piercing in.

@neatBlueberry3608 Youch! Not thrilled about the pain, but I have six tattoos and already several piercings in each ear, so I'll probably be okay. I'll have to see about back and neck problems, though. I don't have actual injuries, but I do have some arthritis in my neck.

Thanks for getting back to me on it! I'm glad to hear it's helping you, even a little.

@friendlyEars8792

Thank you I appreciate it. Yes overall the piercing was worth it, I may still get the migraines but not nearly as often as I was without it. Not going to lie it hurt a little to get but totally worth it in the end. Once this is healed & I have them change it to a hoop I plan on getting my other ear done because I tend to get migraines on both sides of my head it doesnt see to just favor one. Hope this is helpful for you.

I looked at it this way, if it didn't work I had a pretty cool piecing LOL.

Hey!

I don't have migraine but I have sinuses. It's been many years since I breath with my two nostrils.

Basically the nostrils blockes while I am trying to sleep causes irritation and lack of oxygen.

Due to this my forehead starts paining.

And I can't able to sleep.

1) Do you deal with migraines and if so, how has this month been for you?

I've been dealing with migraines for nearly 40 years. I'm actually on disability because my migraines are so frequent that I can't keep a job. This past month was relatively good. The were still frequent, but I was able to get rid of most of them pretty quickly with meds.

2) What were some ups and downs you experienced in the month of August?

I've been keeping a migraine chart for years. I had ten migraines in August, two of which lasted more than a day. One "up" I experienced was that after literally decades, I finally discovered a trigger. For the most part, my migraines can occur for no apparent reason whatsoever, but I discovered that anxiety/panic attacks will trigger them. That will help me prepare in at least one case.

Welcome! I am sorry to hear that your migraines are that severe. I'm glad you now have additional support.

good job identifying a trigger. With migraines they can be so elusive.

here's to a new month and new support.
