I want to purge, but I don't even have food in my system...I feel depressed, good-for-nothing, in the way, a burden to the world, stupid....just dumb....

@MindsInside - I'm sorry you're feeling so down right now. No one deserves to feel the way you do. Do you think talking to someone might help? Connecting to a listener and talking through where these feelings are coming from might help you understand them better. Take care

I want to want to heal. Those close to me are struggling with the "half" human I have become, but I feel safe here in this fog. How do I grow to want to want to heal?

(I am sorry for any errors, english isn't my native language)

It's already a huge step to wish for the want to heal and I am really glad to hear that you are able to think in that direction! Many are struggling for what feels like forever, maybe you know this exact feeling and still you're strong enough to think about healing, this is already very well. Further on it's ofc hard to "break old habits" and it only makes sense that it gives you kind of a comfort to "stay in your foggy little bubble", I know this feeling too well. But still, as you know you have to break out of it to reach the change you seem to wish for. How? That depends on the person. I believe it's important to find a good reason. You mentioned friends and family? Maybe they can be the helping hand you need to climb further up on your way to recovery. Or maybe you can be your own reason? Many can find motivation in the wish to prove themselves how strong they can be (and I don't doubt that you are). I don't know if this will help you in any way, but I hope that you'll get my point.

No matter how scary or uncomfy it is to "escape your old comfort zone" after it's done you'll see that it was necessairy and an important step.

The comfort that your foggy bubble is giving you is only a faint taste of what you can actually get. It only needs a bit of bravery and the descision to accept (or ask for) a helping hand. I believe in you and I believe that you can do it! No matter when or how or how long it'll take. You are strong enough, let no one tell you otherwise. Do it, but do it for you. In your own pace. Finding new comfort for yourself. This is about you and your well-being. You and only you so don't stress yourself too much, even a slow way can be a steady way and I really believe that you can do it :)

(And again sorry for my un-native stuttering)

- Wanderer

Defeated. My girlfriend feels it is abusive to our relationship that I am so restrictive... I understand that the distance hurts her and it is upsetting when she experience anorexic paperface as opposed to just paperface. She has gone home for a few weeks and I am left alone. She will be upset at me if I lose weight upon her return, but I can't find it in me to want to heal. I feel so dejected. And even more like a failure than usual.

@MyPaperFace - I think the absolute hardest part about healing is really wanting it, so I can definitely relate to what you're saying. One thing that helped me was to make a list of all the reasons I wanted to recover / things I wanted to be able to do once I was healthy and then looking at it every morning. It can include physical activities you aren't strong enough for now, relationships you want to mend, activities you want to be able to fully participate in, etc. Also, just talking about how you're feeling and being honest with yourself and others is a huge step, so reaching out here is great, and connecting with a listener might help, too. Take care, you can do this!

@MindsInside - That's a hard feeling to sit with, but try to be forgiving and gentle with yourself and remember that your body needs that nourishment, even if your mind really doesn't want it. Take care

Every time I eat anything unhealthy I want to skip my next meal

@kiwi3171 - That's an understandable impulse, but I know I always find that skipping the next meal makes me more likely to eat unhealthy food or too much later on, whereas allowing myself a normal schedule of meals helps me never go overboard. Does that happen to you, too?

@sincereOwl7815 - I know it's so hard and so painful, but you really can recover. It's a slow and tough process, but step by step you can get there. Reaching out here is a brave and big first step. What's the next step for you on your path to recovery? What's one small thing you can do today to heal a little?

@Cranberrysauce - No matter what happens tomorrow or the next day, right now you're feeling great, and that's fantastic! Celebrate it, enjoy it, and don't bother thinking about what's to come...that's a problem for another day! :)

I have been doing better but last night I had a dream that I weighed a lot more than I do now and I started to almost have a panic attack, in my dream, about it. I still think twice before touching a piece of food and i still limit myself by only eating something at a certain time. Then after I eat something, especially a full meal, I am ready to run a marathon so I can immediately burn it off. Am I ever going to stop obsessing?!

@bubblewriter5890 - It takes time, and to be honest, there will likely always be some thoughts that come up every now and again, but it does get easier. And less frequent. But it is hard, and I'm sorry that these feelings and obsessions keep coming back up. Take care, and reach out if I can help support you in any way.

I feel sick, usually I would want to eat but denied myself food. Now i try and eat something rarely after not eating for a long time and it instantly makes my stomach turn and i get too nauseous to do anything. I don't usually throw up i just get to sick to eat. Especially when i think about my past. Some sickening things have happened in my past and if I think about it while i am eating I get sick to my stomach and nauseous. In ways it helps me not eat but i have been passing out and i am scared someone will find out that I'm not eating.

@LostGirl2001 - Starting to eat again when you've restricted for so long can be really hard and feeling a little sick is, unfortunately, very normal. It may help to identify what foods are easier for you to eat and which are harder. For example, some people have an easier time eating lower calorie foods in large volumes, while others find it easier to start with calorie-rich foods in smaller volumes. The net effect is the same, but it might help you manage the nausea a bit better.

It sounds like some of the nausea is also coming not from the food but from thinking about upsetting things. Given that, do you think it would help to distract yourself while you eat so that you can clear your head? I personally would eat while watching a TV show during the early part of my recovery because it made me a lot less stressed and gave me something else to focus on besides the overwhelming sensation of eating.

Either way, it's important that you get the nutrients you need. If you're at the point of passing out, this is past serious and getting healthy is incredibly important. It may be time to think about talking to someone about it and getting help, but if you're not ready for that, then hopefully these tricks will at least help some.

Take care and be safe, sweetie. And reach out if you need any extra support.

I feel extremely sluggish today. Yesterday was really hard on me since the normal schedule is starting to fall apart. My parents are continuing to fight, and my brother ran away from home for a couple of hours, so my mom hasn't been checking up on me lately. I have been getting a couple of rude messages from listeners and getting into fights with people online as well, and it's making me feel worthless and alone. I binged and purged, and I feel hideous because I really want to get better. I should leave my mom alone, I know she's already disappointed in me.

@thalia14 - I'm sorry you've had such a rough couple of days and that you haven't found a supportive listener to talk to. If you ever need some support, feel free to PM me. And in the meantime, try to take things one day at a time and find some activities that help you feel calm, whether that's drinking tea, going for a walk, coloring, or whatever else - you deserve to feel at peace, and I hope you can find that. Take care and be safe.
