Diet Plans, Weight Gain, Wanting to Recover...
Hey!!
So after 8 sessions of CBT I've finally taken a look at the dietary plan I was given (in the first session) as a kind of guide to understand what a real meal looks like, and it looks scary as hell!
I'm feeling strong enough to tackle it, I just wondered if anyone had any tips to make sure I don't push myself too far and take 9 steps back? Also any tips on how to minimise the general anxiety surrounding my weight gain and body shape that will undoubtly change!
Sigh... this is difficult!
I wish you luck and I know you will pull through. Just stay strong and ....it will get better. I promise.
@breakmakingviking, I don't have any advice for you because personally I haven't gone through what you're going through.
I'm so glad that you've made so much progress and that you understand that the changes that you will have to deal with in the upcoming weeks and that at times is the biggest challenge, good luck to you, hope you come out of it all stronger.
@breadmakingviking - I have a few tips, though they are more general to recovery than specific to your meal plan.
1. Small steps grow into big victories. It's okay if you can't dive headfirst into a normal eating pattern; it's really hard! But as long as you are moving steadily forward, you will get there. Push yourself, do things that scare you, but don't feel like you have to be perfect from day 1.
2. Be forgiving to yourself. Chances are there will be slips along the way. That's okay! It's a part of recovery and what's important is that when you slip, you understand why it happened, think about how to avoid it going forward, and then forgive yourself and move on.
3. If you think it will help, try a recovery buddy! This doesn't have to be someone else in recovery, just someone that you can check in with regularly (daily, weekly, whatever works for you) to feel a little accountability, but also to talk to when things are tough and you need some extra support.
You are so incredibly strong and you inspire me! Best of luck, I know you can do it! And if you ever need someone to talk to, you can always leave me a message. Take care!
Update: My therapist thought I was a little upset about how little time I had left with her and so offered me 5 more!
She said I can tell her things like this too, which I knew I could, just, anxiety...yano!
Things are going okay! Not great, I've gained some weight though, which I know is good but I hate it.
Staying strong! I hope you're all well! Thanks for all your words! Stay strong!! <3
@breadmakingviking - That's all wonderful news! Thank you so much for sharing that update, and I'm thrilled to hear that you have some extra time to work with your therapist. Stay strong!
Help! I'm a binger with an anorexic mindset!I don't know how to stop binging! I was diagnosed with anorexia 6 years ago and the binging started a year later. I don't see a point in life anymore, but I'm holding on because I think that if I stopped binging, the anorexic thoughts, depression, and self harm will ago away as well. I just don't know how to stop! Any tips?
