I don't know what's normal

I developped a sort of ed when I was 14. I say "sort of" because I never went to a doctor or psychologist so I was never diagnosed. Lost a lot of weight in a very short time in a very unhealthy way. My period stopped for sometime, I was always sick and cold. Then I started eating again, more like binging and then starving. I still struggle with binge eating but i'm doing better. The thing is that I never learned what I should eat. What is enough or too much or too little. I was too young before I develop the ed to know it and after it I just always had a very distorted image of food so it doenst come natural for me. I can't just "listen to my body", cause my body is like super confused about it, I dont know if it makes sense. Sometimes I copy what other people are eating. It's harder when I have to eat alone tho. It's been more then 5 years but I feel like a kid who doesnt know how to take care of him/herself. If someone as any tip, share please :) No counting calories or stuff like that tho cause I know I'd get obsesses. Nothing too specific or strict, I tend to get obsessed and develop unhealthy relationship with anything really.

I am not an expert, but that does make sense to me. I think copying what other people are eating is a great idea.

Also, I have read that eating is to a large extent a matter of habit, so if you deliberately get into a routine it might make it easier.

I agree with you, too, about the risk of becoming obsessed. So much diet advice you see is about rules and lists.

@RarelyCharlie

yup, actually it's more like a habit that is formed over time.

and the need to "change" the behavior

it will feel uncomfortable at first

slowly once you get the hang of the new habit you wiil start using the new habit. (be it a good it bad routine)

I myself am struggling too but trying to eat whenever I feel (stomach hunger kind of feeling) - yes this is not approved by community nor doctors for ED AN AIFRD recovery.

but I feel at least some sort of start to change the original habit, which is way worse than this newer one

take care

Can you find a dietician? Especially a woman? I have gotten good results with the right one.When I've let them know that I have ED, they are careful to not make me count calories.
