@Nontimebomala Any kind of help would be appreciated. I've had binge eating disorder for about four years now. It has completely taken over my life. I think about food constantly and what my next meal will be. I've tried eating healthy several time but give up before the day is over because I think that I can't do it. Do you know of any type of coping strategies for when I feel like this? I am so motivated to be healthier but can't seem to get past the binge eating.

@Adventureseeker2567

i will help you in any way I can. Now I'm not I councillor and bing eating is an addiction just like any other. So you will need help with that side of it. Not that I haven't had my own addictions in the past. Where I can help is change the way you eat. Types of food, timing when to eat and when not to.and of course there has to be exercise. Now there will be people that say everyone is different. I have a slow metabolism or thyroid problems. Well so what. both are easily fixed. As a bodybuilder I lost 40 pounds in 12 weeks eating 10 meals a day. And I mean meals not snacks. Well like I said I can help you. Just hope to bump into you on here sometime. Talk to you soon.x

@peacefulPeace63 how did you find yourself taking the first steps to recovery? I am just struggling to commit to anything that might help. I've started exercising which I thought might help with the cravings but it really hasn't.

Hi all. I guess I'm just looking for help.

So over the past year I have developed binge eating disorder. I'm having a hard time coping with it. My family are having a hard time seeing it as a problem, after having spent so long depriving myself of food. They see it as a step forward. And while my weight may be healthy now, my mind isn't.

So I guess im looking for help. What can I do to stop these binges? How can I help myself? How can I lose the weight without falling down the slope again (despite how every part of my mind still begs me to)

@gargura Hi!!! I have the same problem... I used to restrict, but when I began recovery, I got trapped into BED. I have been like this for several months now, and my family doesn't understand either. They tell me "just stop, it is not that hard", but it actually is.

I try to distract myself or go out for a walk, and eat the same portions as my sister... But most of the days I end up binging again!

Many times I have been recomended to give a try to intuitive eating. But try not to restrict again to loose weight, because that will make you binge later, again and again...

Talk to me if you need it!!! smiley

@arabidopsisthaliana thank you so much... it's so nice to hear from somebody that gets it as opposed to 'you're not the only one, you'll manage too'. yes I have noticed that when I restrict, my binge is worse. I'm trying to find a way to lose the weight without falling into a binge cycle or falling back into anas trap again.

i might try to copy my sisters portions. That seems like a good idea.

what exactly is intuitive eating?

@gargura I am having this same problem too. I severely restricted for two years and now the past year I have been binge eating. I'm not even hungry. Like I almost never get hunger cues but I eat alot. I don't know how to stop the cycle. Some say your body will find its natural weight and then the urges will go away but this hasn't happened for me.

@sevans8582 yes, it's apparently very common. I have a close friend recovering from anorexia for a while now who now suffers from BED. I guess at this stage it's just trying to get to a point where we can have a healthy relationship with food. How we get there I'm still figuring out

Hey there! I used to suffer from anorexia and bulimia but in the last year have suffered from binge eating disorder. I am going through a lot of experiences as well, especially as a college student (I just finished my first year). If anyone ever wants to chat with me I will be glad to do so.

Hey all!

im super New on here so I have noooo idea what to do or expect aha

Basically, I don't really know if I have a BED. I can control my eating some days (like one or two every couple of months) when I try to be healthy again but can never be consistent with it. It's not even a point of wanting to be skinny anymore, I just want to be healthy. So many bad health related issues run in my family and it's just crazy to think that I could get hit with it all so young. I binge everyday even when I'm not hungry. I'll eat when I'm bored, when I'm doing stuff, while I'm working, right after already eating a meal. It's just constant and all the time. I've gained so much weight because of it and just feel like I lack so much control.

Everything in my life just seems to blow up sometimes. I had sort-of relationships with people that effected how I see myself and have brought me down emotionally. I tend to comfort eat a lot but I'm not sure at what point comfort eating becomes BED. I guess I'm just scared I'm diagnosing myself with something I don't have? I'm not sure.

Ive also gained so much weight recently and it's gotten to the point that i don't really look at my body/try not to. I don't know who I am anymore and I just feel like I'm not in control of myself anymore.

@Zebra26 I eat for comfort and as a distraction from my emotions, especially when Im feeling lonely. It really bothers me that I feel so out of control with regards to it. Afterwards I always end up feeling a lot of shame and the original thoughts return.

Hey! Sorry its been so long, Ive been quite busy for the past month and havent had much time to enter. Ive also suffered for many years now. Sometimes the anxiety calms down a bit for a while, but then I get stuck in the cycle again. I completely understand you, my last binge was this morning and as always, I felt so ashamed, guilty, upset and panicking. Have you ever asked for any help? Ive been going to therapy for a while now and it kind of helps me to calm down and control myself sometimes but it doesnt always work. I guess it takes a lot of work and time. Therapist says that binge eating is caused by other problems/emotions etc. that Ive suffered or may be suffering now in my life. Im still working on it, some days are better, some are worse, but keep fighting.

I would love to talk with you or other people that are going through this, it could be helpful for all of us. So if you want to talk tell me, Ill really appreciate it :)
