What did your struggle look like last year at this time? And what does it look like now? What have you learned about yourself?

One year ago I was a very skinny girl who eat few calories at day, thinking that everything is perfect and she needs to be perfect too. Now I'm a very chubby girl fighting with her own ghosts, fighting with bulimia and binges, but now I'm not trying to be perfect, I'm learning to love myself, I'm understand my feelings, I feel a little bit more free, and every day I'm getting better c:

Congratulations...it sounds like you've made an enormous amount of progress in the last year towards loving you for you and knowing that perfection isn't real. Keep up the awesome work and stay strong!

I've been fat in my eyes since my childhood, at first I started dieting and exercising and it was good but I wanted to be as skinny as possible..I made pressure to myself and got really depresses so I ate more and more..for about 1 year I was a binge eater and I was regreting every meal, crying all the time..then bulimia came..it's more than a year now and nothing is better..I tried! I bought diary and try to help myself..but it didn't work..I did a lot of stupid things in my life and this is just too much..I can't say it to my mum because I dont want to break her heart again.

@lostineatingdisorder it sounds like you're fighting a very tough battle right now, I'm sorry that it's so overwhelming at the moment and that you feel you can't go to your mom for support. It's difficult feeling like you're struggles are a burden to the people you love, and I know how impossible it all can seem at times, but I respect you a lot for coming here to voice some of these feelings and to keep fighting. It takes a lot of courage! If you're interested, we have a guide on eating disorders here on the site and I also hope you'll consider reaching out to a listener for support if you feel able and in need (you can even filter your search for listeners who specialize in eating disorders if you'd like). I'll be keeping you in my thoughts, and I hope things get easier soon.

One year ago I was in complete denial, really settling into my eating disorder with no idea it was happening. I had been going back and forth between periods of starvation and binging for years but one year ago is when the regular, frequent, unstoppable cycle of binge/purge began. I was more obsessed with my body than I had ever been and slowly gaining weight but I had convinced myself what I was going was fine, just a diet, that it was practically good for me. Today, I'm still bulimic and I'm still obsessed with my weight, now I'm just way more self aware

@moonbaby9574 - Even if you're still struggling a lot, I think being aware is an enormous step. As the old adage goes, "the first step is admitting you have a problem". Now that you're aware of what's going on, maybe the next year can be spent working towards recovery so that at this time in 2016 you can look back and say you are so much healthier than you were. Take care
