@abigdevine Hi. It doesn't seem like an eating disorder, however I am not able to diagnose you. Please rethink your passing meals: biologically it is not efficient: your body can panick if it doesnt receive food on time. It is not 100% healthy too. Please, take care and don't be very critical for youself. There are many other, safer diets if you must lose weight, but the best way is to discuss it with a diabietic. If you need to talk to someone about it, message me, you're welcomed :)

@savvywuzhere123 hi. I think those may be first symptoms - lack of acceptance of your body. You also count calories. Don't let it rule your life, maybe talk with some qualified?

To be happy and healthy mentally first you need to accept yourself with all your flaws. Take care <3

@MiraculousPotato hello, so recently it has gotten much worse. Food has consumed my thoughts and I now excersise daily. I make sure to get lower than [edited by Anomalia to remove calories specifics / triggers] calories each day and I get extrememly angry when anyone tries to make me eat. I try not to eat at all the best I can and my family has noticed. I am unsure if this is an eating disordee but oh well I suppose.

@savvywuzhere123 Sorry for the late response. Do you want to talk about it privately? I think you need someone to take care of you as soon as possible. Stay safe and text me if you decide to talk about it with me.

Please consider talking to therapist on 7cups or in real life. You should also (the most important thing!) tell someone you trust. A friend, an aunt, whoever- and ask them to understand you. You may feel stressed because they make you eat- tell them how you feel about it.

The best way is to tell someone, even if it feels unnecessary, bad or dangerous.

Please take care and stay safe.

Ina

Hi, I would like to know if I'm going I threw an eating disorder.

Its been a year since I have stopped eating junk food and things I don't consider healthy, at first it was like a challenge but now I rarely try foods like chocolate, hamburgers or other things. Lately I've been having stomache a lot. I think (I'm not sure) I am gluten intolerant but I no longer eat thing but vegetables, fat free proteins, some carbs and healthy fats. I think I'm obsessed with healthiness because I have even read lots of books about nutrition and create my own diets but I really don't feel fine with my body. I workout every day as better as I can and I really watch what I eat but I still see myself with a horrible body, and my confidence is kind of lost. I don't want anymore people to touch me near the waist and I feel bloated everyday.

Is it any kind of disorder, or mental or stress ?? Please help me

@Pennyxim2001

thats not a disorder. Not eating junk food isn't s bad thing esp if your stomach hurts when you do. I'd recommend seeing a doctor

@HalliwellSister it is if it gets out of hand. Look up orthorexia. Obsession of healthy eating can kill you. For instance; potassium imbalances can give you a heart attack. Eat only veg, fruit, nuts and no carbs and you'll find yourself very ill. We need balance.

@Pennyxim2001 - No one online can formally diagnose you with anything because we don't know the whole story, but there is an eating disorder called Orthotrexia which is when you take the idea of eating healthily to a level beyond what is healthy. If it feels like something might be going on, you should definitely talk to a professional about it. ANd if you want to talk more online about it, you're welcome to message me. Take care

I've been trying to skip every meal I can (my parents make me eat dinner, but if they're not home I try not eat) for the past two months because I hate my body and I want to lose weight. I've loss [edited by Anomalia for weight specifics] pounds and I was exercising some until I got an injury (I still exercise though, just not as much) and I've been counting calories and weighing myself more than daily. At what point would this be considered an eating disorder? I'm a healthy weight still.

@dancingwhirligigs I don't know at what point this would be considered an eating disorder, but please reaslise THE SEVERAL OF EATING DISORDERS IS NOT WIEGHT DEPENDANT!!! This is something which the charity 'Beat' is fighting to raise awareness about. More Dr.s and Pychiatrists are diagnosing eating disorders regardless of weight. But currently Bulimia is considered (I think) a normal weight, Anorexia a BMI of severaly underwieght and EDNOS is anything which they can't fit into the category nicely. Atypical anorexia is anorexia at a higher (normal) BMI. But this is slowly changing.

@abigdevine - Skipping breakfast and lunch is considered disordered eating, especially since it is impacted by your hatred of your body and wish to lose weight.

It is not a normal behavior to skip meals, and it can be very damaging to your body. I understand that you feel it is a lesser issue since you eat if you are really hungry and usually eat dinner, but these are the warning signs of an eating disorder, and I'd strongly recommend you seek help from a professional.

It is also important to consider recent triggers that may have driven you to engage in this behaviors; have you been more stressed lately? Did someone criticize your eating habits, weight, or body image? There's a lot of factors that can start disordered eating.

I'm glad you reached out for support!

@abigdevine - These can be the initial signs of an eating disorder, and I'd like you to know it's very important that you stray away from these behaviors as much as you can. I understand that you're feeling fat and feel this is a good way for you to lose weight, and you might not be taking this as seriously as you should, since you feel that it's not important - since you still eat when you're really hungry, and still eat dinner; but, these behaviors are considered disordered eating, and it can lead to many problems the longer they progress.

Are you feeling afraid of what may happen if you do eat breakfast or lunch? Please try to reincorporate one of those meals into your day, even if it is something small. Your health is more important than your weight loss. It may be helpful to also examine any stressors that may have pushed you to start eating this way. You are still in a spot where you can turn away, and from what you've said, it doesn't seem like you've been having any health issues related to your eating yet. I'm glad you aren't at a point where you would need to see a doctor, and strongly advise you to take steps to reshape the way you're viewing food, and the way you're handling the stress in your life right now.

@abigdevine We cannot diagnose you over the internet. However, even if food isn't controlling your whole life yet, if you feel like it's taking up more energy and thought than it should, or if you feel like you're developing particular patterns with food, it's definitely worth keeping track of and talking about with an empathic listener or a doctor.
