Eating Disorder Community - How do you actually feel today?
Heya everyone! ❤ how're you all? How're you coping? :)
Today is Christmas, and I felt awful all day. I am allergic to sugar, meaning it triggers anxiety and depression in me, but I also have no impulse control when I am around sugary things, and the past few weeks have been out of control in that regard, not only that, but getting over an eating disorder and not restricting anymore, and having the inability to do so doesn't help anything. Also, it's New Years soon, I'm a retired model, and the only thing I feel like I've managed to accomplish this year, was gain more weight.
I feel very crappyabout myself. I have low confidence and even though I'm in recovery, part of me want out of recovery as soon as possible

I'm almost afraid to join this thread, I'm in recovery with Bulimia, I'm afraid I'll be triggered but I want people to talk to, people who understand, I've been binging but not purging, it's a step towards being able to control the binging, if anyone has any good advice to help stop binging please let me know. Thank you all :)
Im on the road to recovery from bulimia as well, I find that when I feel like binging if I keep a glass of water by me and take a sip every couple bites it fills me up a little faster and makes me pay attention to what I'm eating and how much, helping gain a little control. I hope this helps and if not I hope you find something 😊 I'm so proud of you
I am also a recovering bulimic. What I do when I feel like binging and purging is I distract myself with something else (draw, play guitar, journal),something to get my mind off food and get emotions out. Maybe find your thing that you can do to get yourself out of that mode. I've found that if I'm on the verge of binging, getting out of my room where I have easy access to food and journalingis best. But if I've binged and am trying not to purge, I draw out what I'm feeling.
Hope that helps at least a little!
Hello can anyone tell me if Im struggling with anorexia? Im in love with food but I feel that everything that I eat it s gonna give me weight..I feel guilty for my food..I eat very little everyday but I wanna eat more..but when I eat i deal with my innocence
i can't tell you if you have anorexicia but i can tell you that you sound like i did right before i became anorexic. Just know that no matter what htat number on the scale is youre beautiful. also eating isnt what causes weight gain. not eating is. not eating slows down your metobolism and puts your body into starvation mode so when you eat again you will gain weight. fast. the best thing to do is to eat multiple tiny meals instead of three big ones.
thank you a lot.it helps but im afraid to have anorexia i dont want to..
Whether you have anorexia or are even just in the beginning stages of eating issues, it's important to get help now. It will be way easier to beat this if you start early, so please talk to a parent, a doctor, a therapist, or someone else about this and start your healing as soon as you can. <3
It wasn't until I read some of you guys' stories that really motivated me to share my struggles. I'm not sure what eating disorder I have, but It seems like bulimia. It all started because of a side comment from my figure skating coach about the fact that I had gained a little weight. At that time I was perfectly healthy and in good shape, however that comment really got to me. I began to cut my diet. And when I noticed that the scale not only did not go down but went up instead. (Also during that same time I changed skatingcoaches, was struggling through high school, friend issues and I also had to change fitness instructors. My life was on the downward spiral) anyways, I began to exercise excessively. On top of skating two hours a day and eating 1200 calories a day, I also ran a cumulative 6 miles a day. The scale then began to drop. I also drank water to the point where I lost my period. The only benefit was that the scale dropped. But I felt weak and skating didn't improve. But people began to notice that I got skinnier. However if I stopped that extreme dieting I would gain super fast. And one day I decided to stop and the recoil was harsh. Gained almost 20 pounds in 3 months after I stopped harsh dieting. (Still dieting though) I did not want the harsh diet so I turned to other methods. I tried pills, detoxes, and purging. I know the easiest way to lose weight is to just cut food. But I now have developed an addiction. To the point where all I am thinking about is food. It's a constant struggle every second whether to eat or not to eat. If I do I feel so guilty that I want to die. My parents don't understand. They think that onlydrugs can be that addicting. Now I don't know what to do. I have to keep up with figure skating and not gain anymore weight which makes recovery hard, I have to keep strength for hockey (I play on a boy's team) but my classes are suffering because I can't concentrateon my ap classes because of food. My sports and activities don't distract me from school but it's the food that does. I don't know what to do. I now suffer from depression and I hate life. But if u saw me in person, no one would think that I feel this much pain.
if you don't eat or refrain from eating any food then you are anorexic. if you do eat but make yourself throw up then youre bulimic.
Hi not to be a meanie, but that's not actually true. Both bulimia and anorexia have subtypes of refraining from eating and binging (yes someone who's anorexic can purge and still be counted as anorexic). It actually has a lot more to do with the weight of the person and some other symptoms.
Here is a website that might help further explain:https://www.takingcontrol.org.uk/eating-disorders/types-of-eds
All the best.
Hey there :) we cannot diagnose anyone here and I don't think it's that simple anyway. Its very normal to hide your emotions under a facade but I know me saying this makes it no easier. But yes the cycle you are in is truly exhausting and I can understand the vast amount of guilt and regret you feel I would like to say though that suicidal feelings regardless of whether or not you will act on them are very serious.Thank you for being so open with us I appreciate it's not easy.
First I just want to say thank youfor your honesty. It takes a lot to explain what we are going through, evenonline and in text. that's still really brave so thank you.
My story is somewhat similar to yours in the sense that I have extreme dieted, lost my period, exercised overkill, etc. Like someone said below, it's none of our jobs to diagnose you. No matter what it's "called," there is an issue at hand. Do you have anyone close to you that you can talk to about this? Maybe a coach, a parent, a friend? I know first hand that trying to beat this thing alone is overwhelming and exhausing and it will eat you alive. It has taken me years to get the right help, work through my problems, and tell someone what I actually feel and think in counseling. And it has been helping so much. I would suggest that you seek help from a professional, but if you aren't comfortable with that, then maybe start with a trusted mentor. You could tell a peer, but someone older might be better so theycan help you and not be overwhelmed.
I hope that helps.
I don't feel that great a bit tired from the guilt I have . I'm struggling to be comfortable with myself.
